Fallout 76
FIXED Unplayable, cpu usage spikes at 100% freeze the game for almost 30 seconds at time
Edit: Fixed by Setting “High priority” to the game in Task Manager.... i'm speechless.
Ps: you have to set that high priority every time you open the game, it doesn't keep that change.

I have an i7 9700k, and it's unplayable, if there is someone using nukes on the map, unless i'm inside a building separated from the main map it uses 100% of my cpu and freezes most of the time for 10/15 seconds, sometimes for even 40.
I tried lowering detail and distance, nothing changed, i tried lowering resolution, nothing changes, i tried overclocking, nothing changes.
Classic bethesda game, too bad since the game is actually fun to play when it runs smoothly during the late night.

Ps: no, it's not the GPU (2070 super) or the RAM (32 gigs 3600 hz)

Same here, and it's funny because my pc can manage cp77 but still can't handle fo76. No matter what kind of optimization tips or tricks it just stuttering. At the end I have to download a mod to remove all the floras and useless objects only then it can at least become playable.

Hmm..ok i will try to set grass view to 0
There might something else wrong with your system, I'm also playing on a 9700k with a 1070Ti and have never had so much as a hiccup.

Seriously? It's the only game that does this, so i don't think it's my pc's fault.

Have you tried putting the game on a different SSD? Or at least verifying files.
Set "ipresentinterval=0" in the config file fallout76prefs.ini located in documents/mygames/fallout76

Had no problem playing with high fps on a 1080ti with i7 8700k.

Or just follow this performance guide. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byE4qyx8kwA

yeah, i did that, it improved a bit, but still get those freezes once every few minutes that last from 1 second to almost 40....
I had the same problem. FPS drops or the game would simply cause my laptop to overheat. I adjusted my setting to prefer maximum performance. I also made sure my Nvidia was running the game. Dell also had me shut down intel boost. For some reason intel boost was my biggest problem. I also had to use a program to cause for some unknown reason some idiot at dell thought the fan on a gaming laptop was to loud and changed the bios. So eventually I found out dell had a power management for it to fix this since the idiot did what they did. Also if I would suggest a cooling pad like the topmate c5 or something around that if your having heat issues.

Who would have thought that. The 9700k is limiting fallout 76 game. Just checked it. I also got 100% load on cpu core. Guess thats why the game is stutterng sometimes. Temperature are very close to throttle the core clock. If you have problems with your case temps or cpu cooling you could run into a throttle scenario. So that could be the reason for stuttering or temporary freezing^^

@TS Maybe check that out too or just try to play with open case i while.

this person has the same cpu and video card as you and runs just fine, wonder if something is corrupted in your os or drivers, or if you're missing a driver for your cpu/motherboard, so weird :/ hope you end up figuring it out

mine just brick my pc other game i try just fine only this game brick my pc
such amazing engine kill you pc
In the end lets not exclude a compromised system or account^^. I think about that every time i see other players with an equal system playing without probs.
