Fallout 1st Private World Mule Transfer

Can anyone with fallout 1st confirm that the timer before a private world resets when switching characters is still ~5 minutes and not a few seconds?

I have fallout 1st and I move items back and forth between my characters/mules on my private world. I really have not tested on how long I have,I just make the drop and quickly switch to a mule. My game closed out on me one time just after I made a drop,I quickly jump back on the game and all the stuff was still there. Remember it's never guaranteed!!

I haven't had issues swapping stuff, as everyone has explained it's just 1 2 3 - get characters to same spot drop in container and swap character fast.

FO1st is a dirty grift yes, it won't help you transfer gear as it should.

a glass cage in a shelter with some locked doors only opened to you
selling you back you specific item for a symbolic 1 cap

this is kinda what I always do when transferring items, I get a friend in a public server to go to their shelter, ill drop all my stuff behind a locked door then ill switch characters while they stand on top of my stuff

This was changed several months ago. No problem if you switch characters, but if your game freezes and you have to restart the PC it might get difficult.

Edit:
I forgot: if you are on your private server solo and your router cuts out and needs a restart this might be to long to keep the server alive.
Best to have someone else on the server (gives a 20min. time window or infinite if this player has FO 1st).

So you are saying when i buy 1st i cant use the private server reliably to transfer items completely solo? Because i am considering buying 1st as i dont have any friends for this purpose and if it doesnt work i would waste my money.

The game has no built in transfer system between characters. The fact that people found a way to do it doesn't mean it is supported or part of the game. Using private worlds isn't reliable, but it can be done solo. I've done it as well. But I tend to just give stuff to my wife when I delete a char or something. It's not a solo game. Worlds are not persistent. Neither are private worlds. They stick around for a while, but I think that also relies on requests made for private worlds. It could very well be that if you leave a private world and another player requests one yours is reset and handed over to someone else. But that's an assumption.

nope, that is not what I wrote.
Players use privte servers to swap items between characters all the time.

If you store items, go to main menue, switch chaarcters and go back to privtate servers it is possible that your game (not the server) freezes or crashes, restarting your PC might take longer then the Server persists ( I estimate 3 minutes) and then items stored in suitcases etc. are lost.

you don't want to take this risk with super-rare items, these you should trade from character to character.

Other players have the same problem, so find 1 and help each other.

For items that are more common I don't see a problem in taking a small risk to loose them, happened to me with a bloody tesla rifle (like 2 years ago :)

and in a shelter... that is very unsafe from my perspective
i would just use the vendor machine and sell for 1 cap (ofc behind closed doors (btw the glass dome is quite excellent for that))

nope, you can "sell" any item for 0 bc, I do this with gunpowder.

Well thats new to me when i put an item for sale it shows me a slider which doesnt go lower than some set value that is different depending on the item. Is no price minimum perhaps fallout 1st exclusive?
