Fallout 76
Fallout 76's Community
I think FO76's community is one of the most wholesome gaming communities out there. Whenever there's events, everyone always works together and then does nice emotes at the end... if you go to someone's camp they wave or do the heart emote. There's barely any toxic behavior at all

Is this what it's like for you guys too though? Or have you had any toxic experiences

I think the only thing that works in Fallout 76 is the Behavior between players. surely it is because you have no chat or other ways to be toxic to other players, but i´m sure it´s also a learning process. i´m there since launch and i´ve learned it by myself, helping other players will make themhelp me in future. so i´´m very content and everytime appr
iciated if anyone give me a heart or a thumbs up. so much givings i get as low level i try to give it back to lowlevel players. it´s right and it feels good to be nice to others

that's all facts. some jester is giving out awards of himself but enjoy the free points :D
Ironically, in game it is one of the most friendly communities.
Go to the forums and it quickly changes.

I have run into toxic people in game, multiple times, but it is pretty rare.
I think a lot of it has to do with server populations being so low it makes it harder for the harassment.
The forums are filled with trolls.. The game itself. like stated has its fill of hackers an exploiters.. but considering you can just relog to another server hasnt been a real issue.. While there is no ' chat ' par say.. if you use the ingame voice you almost NEVER run into something who is a douche.. I randomly end up chatting with people almost every game.. while waiting for an event.. or while they are in my camp.. or vise versa.. I have yet to find someone who is just outright ' griefing ' in voice..

Even when you run into one of those legacy basement living guys who is level 3000 or something.. if you ask in voice ' hay.. can you switch to soemthing else so I can get a chance to tag something .. ' most of the time .. they will..
It's like burnt toast, people will see what they want to see.

Some will see Jesus, some Che Guevara, some Moses, some just see toast. What ever cultural or personal bias we have will influence what we focus on.

For me I think the playerbase (not community) is full of jerks. There are many ways to be a jerk such as opening the mine at Lode Barring and staying outside or joining Free Range only when near the Sheepsquatch.

Then there are the frequent exploits of glitches/bugs. All things from silo running, 'magic' weapons when they were a thing, ammo overload, animation skip to increase fire rate and many more.

At the end of the day so what? As annoying as most of that is to me I can still ignore it and play like a solo game with odd NPCs running around (NPCs are just as bugged as players act at times).

We all get our enjoyment in different ways and as long as they don't conflict just let it be.

(For full disclosure I think this forum is full of stubborn weirdos. I consider myself one as well).

Maybe if they are the majority then it is the norm. Game is from Austin and it has the motto "Keep Austin Weird".
Ive met a fair amount of toxic people in game and on the forums. Freedom of speach and freedom of expression messes with some peoples heads.

People get even more toxic if they are blocked (silenced).

What freedom of speech?
You gave that up the moment you accepted the EULA/TOS agreement.
There are some really nice people that certainly stand out from the rotten apples (which are always inevitable). Love seeing the more seasoned players helping with low leveled/new players. When I see a relatively lower level player, I always try to drop some stimpaks for them. It be rough out there when ya first get started lol.

You might have, i didnt.
so far i've had a pretty good experience with sharing a world with others.. And that's EXTREMELY surprising. I can't name one other game where its a consistently pleasant experience with other people. And Fallout, of all communities - and maybe this is just my opinion - but fallout has one of the most toxic communities in general imo.

Makes it a bit easier to get into the game and stay interested
I also think that maybe the fallout 76 community is GENERALLY pleasant because ?

1.) its primarily made up of people who enjoy single player games and just want to do their own thing and
2.) is also primarily made up of the part of the fallout community that are actually willing to give Fallout 76 a fair shot and not just calling it "trash" because its not the single player RPG that the others are. In other words, the part of the community that's not just entitled, toxic consumers that have to find any little reason to complain

every day i play something wholesome happens
very rare in such game

as an anecdote: today i joined 2 low lvls
shared my 5 adrenaline and i have 4 bodyguards (coz i'm better than Santa that's why)
i just want to point out
for the vets this game has a different dimension
day 1 in 2018 it was harsh (no way to call for help, but used from all my solo experience from previous fallouts)
i ragequitted many times (bugs and shutdowns were hectic)
getting sudden help during those times will never be forgotten

it's very addictive to help young-lings :D
+ having non empath players etc is a good challenge (a handicap)
next to keeping them from harm's way
it brings joy to everyone
(don't even need to communicate, just switch a bit between the high cards = i share for a second the 4 bodyguards so they see + a stimpak with medic on me so they see they heal too, no words needed)

Sanshez write this down:
an apple a day Does Not make the bitterness go away

Ps: tell Martha she needs to stay off the bombons
.. i don't care what Peggy says
if Peggy resists dispatch her behind the shed
That's an Order Private!

now where did i left my steed?
