They'll still drop ammo and some weapons, just not all like before. For example minigun Super Mutants won't drop their miniguns as world loot (a bug) or on their bodies. But they will still drop ammo.
This is actually an overall improvement as there'll be less trash loot littered all over the ground. That'll help server stability.
It can suck if you want cheap gear to scrap for mods, legendary crafting or junk but it does make having plans more useful.
Honestly it's not that bad of a change and if it has the added effect of server stability I'm all for it.
This change will 100% undermine the availability of crafting materials for people to craft things.
This excess has often been handy for crafting weapons/armor/whatever for selling to the vendors to clear out their daily caps, or to use as a base for multiple Legendary rolls. I'd often roll 10 Legendary Enclave Plasma Rifles at a time, keep any promising ones, and recycle the rest for future crafting efforts.
Now, if they make it harder to get crafting materials through scarcity, I can see crafting being reduced, but it COULD ALSO allow for cancellation of Fallout 1st if I no longer am able to collect enough crafting material in a timely manner and keep my stash box filled.
I mean, if I don't have excess scrap, I don't need a scrap box.
I used the dropped weapons off enemies for this dumb task.
...do they expect us to take off the perks that slow down durability loss to be able to get this done quickly (which will take us out of the fights faster at same time, because broken gear).
This is a bad decision.
Easy, go to the Miners Monument near The Whitespring. Pick up the protest signs and hit one of the robots once (taking the legs off a Protectron helps). Repair them at the nearby workbench for 1 wood each, there is also a wood pile there.
Is that how things work though? From what I've seen body containers just despawn leaving behind their contents on the ground. I'd have to imagine that behavior is a larger problem than weapons being on bodies. That happens with all enemies not just super mutants as I'm sure anybody running caravans could probably tell you with the piles of trash all over the roads.
Having said that... how often does a player honestly use blank drops? The availability of plans at stations is plentiful enough players don't need to scrap blanks early on. The pipe pistol is going to suck regardless if it has a long barrel or not. If removing trash gear from mobs would help then that's an acceptable sacrifice without having a major impact.
edit: Also there's still plenty of static trash weapons in the game that generate once per server. If someone needs a blank bad enough they can just grab one that way.
As soon as an event is over, folks rush to scrap or sell the loot.
Another strange decision from the makers of a game that goes down every 3 months.
Damned if I'm going to be doing those repair weapons dailies in future, another for instant reroll I guess.
GG devs
Guess I'll be doing more of that now.
