How to make the lights to work?

placed some lamps but they give no light. Then installed a generator but I dont know how to link them

You need to have a generator to produce electricity. Then you need to connect a wire to a conduit. Every conduit has a certain "area of effect" around which it can power electrical devices, so you need to place your lamp not too far from it. Plans for most types of conduits and lamps can be bought from the BOS vendor Phoenix in Watoga or the Whitespring resort.

like in real life:
1. you need some generator to "produce electicity"
2. you need some stuff that require electricity (your lamp in that case)
...
...
3. you also needs cables to link between genertor and lamp... duh

in "edit" mode -select generator (with SPACE) - you start to do "cables", then select what you want to connect - usually players use all sort of conectors (both floor and wall mounted) to connect all small devices.

Conduit is a plan...
the wall closest to the lamp needs to have a electrical connector on it, under Electrcal connections, can be on outside or inside. hope that helps
