Come back next Tuesday and look at the numbers.
2. STALKER 2 just released
- Is the game dead?
--- No.
- How's the future?
--- Huge patch releasing early December. The future is bright at the moment.
- Is it worth it to start now?
--- Sure. It's F2P, if you own the game
- New players?
--- New players every day. Give it a shot.
Each map/server only allows 24 people on it at once. So, even if there are 1000 people, there's still enough to see a lot of new faces. Any other questions, feel free to ask.
Sure, there'll be a surge of players but that is just an adrenaline burst before the inevitable.
Once players realise raids aren't for them (they are for hard core players mostly) and the changes to mobs and player defence make the game less of a power fantasy, you'll see the rapid decline as that adrenaline wears off.
There is nothing good (subjective) next season with less rewards and awkward 'balancing'. Ever since this latest team took over the game has been in rapid decline, even the ghoul update scheduled March 2025 looks pointless (the perks just mirror mutations and perks we have now...).
But... Bethesda is stubborn and won't let it die completely and is content with keeping the game on life support (slow content and bug fixes).
FO76 is a good comeback game; however,
They lost a tonne of user base over the years by being incompetent with development decisions, some they have backtracked on but an alienated fan is forever jaded... Not just the old time incompetence, they've done a lot of modern head smack decisions too
Scoreboards to the current mess = nobody liked that
Legacy weapon theft = vets hated that... Compensation was in order
Adding uber legacy weapons after stealing them = everybody hated that (nuka launcher, cold shoulder, etc guns with more than 5* worth of effects... nuka for example is an 8* gun)
Removing peoples ability to get these new legacy weapons but then adding them to the atomic shop for profit = everybody hated that
Ignoring mass duping, mass hacking, mass cheating etc = everybody hates that
Expanding no build zones to wipe out camps players have made without warning = everybody hates that
Adding best builds without any reason to have them and then having them block player camps = nobody likes that
Adding 120 new bugs, fixing 1 old bug, breaking 10 old bug fixes every time they drop a patch then not fixing or reverting game killing issues for 3-6 months at a time = everybody hates that
etc etc etc
it gets a new injection on dec 3rd which will bring a lot of the player base back
