Chameleon questions

Ok i got chameleon mutation...love it...with my silver shround build its awesome, but...i know your turn invisible but whats that mean? is it just auto sneak? a bonus to sneak? should i bother with sneak perk?

Also...escape artist, does it even work? with sneak 3+chameleon+escape artist i crouch to sneak...and they just keep shooting at me. Is it bugged?

you should test it with 1 enemy
preferably 1 turret

unequip and re equip perk cards while crouching and
watch the [] around caution
it's a really good test

and yes i've heard escape artist sometimes is broken

also keep in mind
the "AI" goes after sound
the last place you shot from is where they will be going

btw highly recommend you get chinese stealth armor as soon as you can get it

i consider chameleon mutation as something to escape situations
(usually wearing weightless shrouded wooden armor lol - and yes i'm one of the few who loves wooden armor lol)

Edit: get weightless armor and it will go much better

+1 on getting the Chinese stealth armor, I think the rad resist of the armor is 1000 but I forget ;)

even have it on my wheel since the animation of climbing into PA usually means death by stumbling from stairs and/or from old age and/or magical 50s radiation

Chinese is max rad resist 99.9% or so, with 100% fall damage reduction and stealth bonus equal to a stealth boy as long as you are crouched

Unyielding is +15 stats with its host of bonus (like increased exp, carry weight, ap, etc) gives superior stealth to the chinese suit, while standing... much better crouched, and also gets under armour bonus, jetpack ability, various other legendary effects

Chameleon is a throw away mutation (no real downside to it kind of highlights how they realise its not great they didn't add in a -x stats or other debuff like the rest of the mutations), gives a minor stealth bonus equal to a stealth boy if you are stationary

Escape artist is a perk that pretty much does that, gives you a bonus to stealth when it activates and throws you an equal to stealth boy for a bit... Now if you have really riled the enemies up they'll still know you are there, they will also still shoot in your general direction if they have dropped down an alert

There is a downside, you won't be able to use your pip-boy easily and you can't see your reticle (no issue for VATS).

But I think the Predator thermoptic camouflage effect is mostly for PvP and not so much PvE.

If you are not moving, and moving quickly, in PvP you are dead

hence stealth boys are drastically better

Higher Agility is more important to sneaking than the Sneak perk card IMO.
Escape Artist seems to have a slight cooldown too. Stand up, wait 5 sec, crouch again, wait 5 seconds to see if you go back down to caution. If not, try again. The card does work.

invisibility in PvE is not what you think it is

you are better off with 1 or 2 chameleon pieces, rest unyielding to ramp up AGL
