That said you will miss out on a lot of group events and special content. Such as the alien invasion. Lot's of nice stuff in the group events in my opinion. Plus it is fun to play alongside other players. You get to see some amazing camps as well.
If you mostly play the private server and occasionally hop to the normal server, you will mostly be playing solo.
If you never leave the private server, just accept that some content won't be viable.
PVP really isn't a thing. You can even disable it in the options so you don't accidentally start a fight. People can't sneak up on you and just kill you. Damage is hugely reduced unless both sides start shooting at each other.
I play solo, myself. But one advantage to having other players around is that you can set up a vendor to see your extra stuff to anyone who comes by your camp (assuming you make it's location visible to others), and you can often find interesting things to buy at other players camps.
Beyond that, just turn off voice chat, and it's effectively a completely solo game. You can ignore other players or join in on world events where other players may be participating, all at your own discretion without ever having to join a team.
Then I heard about Casual teams on regular server. Which mean you team up with randos but never talk to them , rarey see them. Basically have nothing to do with each other, but you get extra XP.
Then i started going to events where others are and just doing my own thing. Piggy backing off of others to gain more XP and loot. Let them do the heavy lifting and you just chill.
This game is NOT a PVP game. you turn ON pacifist mode and you can't be attacked. There is place that is PVP but those are small areas and you don't at all have to do it.
SO....
you can play solo on a public server and even be in a team and still be solo. You can do events solo, meaning you are not communicating with other players on how to beat a boss or whatever. You jsut show up and pew pew a little and hang back. Nobody is going to fault you for doing that and if they do? Well tough ♥♥♥♥ because they cant talk to you.
This is a pretty good community and a lot of players are like us where they want to be left alone to play a game. This is very much that game.
I never play private servers anymore. You DO NOT need a sub, but it does have some convenience perks, that's it.
OK I re-read what you wrote and you said entirely solo. So I didn't really answer your question. You DO NOT have to do PVP. Just make sure you toggle in settings.
If you do not want to pay for a sub you will have to play on a public server and you will see people running around. You DO NOT have to team up but you won't get the XP perk. There is no chat. People will 99% leave you alone. POI's are instanced so you won't see another living soul in a POI mucking up your missions.
So . no not entirely but mostly unless you sub
Some of it will be harder and much so without doing things with other players.
I've played off/on since release and grouped a small # of times.
Anyone can join events.
The PVP OFF settting is there.
There are some benefits to grouping especially the Perk specific ones.
76 has a helpful and friendly bunch of players.
There are unspoken rules but some STILL do these things, sadly.
These are the kinds of responses that poison Steam. Stick with the topic, your opinion of what I should play is irrelevant. I have many hours in Fallout 3/4/New Vegas. I'm well aware of the differences. I asked a specific question and everyone else gave a response related to it.
There's always one though.
Thanks, I don't mind seeing other players, I just would rather do everything solo. Unless I'm playing a competitive game like Overwatch or something, I prefer doing everything on my own. I tend to enjoy exploration games less if I'm playing with other people, I like doing everything at my own pace.
That's questionable...
You need to know all the PvP areas to avoid.
Including an event called "Monster Mash".
Familiarize yourself with "Trap Camps".
If using player vendors, Only use those outside on the ground to stand on.
Leave server if approached by Trollers, antagonizers, group bullies...
I play solo.
Only use "Teams" for XP.
Go my own way while on "Teams".
If you ignore everything I said.
Only use my stats...
I have played 3 toons.
Total 5000+ hours...
Have died at the hands of others about 6ish times.
Thats about .00125 % to 5000hrs.
I can live with that...
For all those that X me and took my junk.
If we met on da street.
(crooked nose)
I'd poke ya's inda eye & kick yah's inda chicken nuggets!
Capiche?
Moses you know God Beth gave U 10 commandants!
Lots of visual and quality of life mods on nexus that are client sided and won't get you banned as well. I personally use one that makes ore veins glow so they're easier to see.
It is a very solo friendly game. Otherwise I would not play it
