Do I need fireproof perk card?
This has been confusing me for a while.
I have a Asbestos lined chest armor piece which says immune from being set on fire and the perk card is less damage from explosion and flame attacks.

It seems a bit redundant with the fire but I'm assuming the card is still still effective for the explosion damage? Or no?

Very, though I would personally take dense instead of asbestos on the chest for even more explosive reduction instead of fire, which doesn't hurt all that much.

Thanks, I will take a look at dense. The fireproof seemed better when I crafted it at the time due to the cultest and blood eagles love of flame throwers and molotoves lol, but yeah I am kinda thinking grenades and grenade launchers might be a "better" thing to up the protection on.

if melee, go for pneumatic chest, if not melee, go dense. Asbestos makes u immune to being SET on fire, but does NOT reduce the damage FROM fire(or explosions) - fireproof isn't 100% needed but is a VERY decent card to slot if u got the endurance. Many don't take it though, so its also a great card to share.

Swap the mods and perks around and see what feels better for you.

I recommend purchasing the fireproof legendary card. That way there you can save mod slots for armour and also perk card slots for default cards. Tip for the future.

Fireproof is nice but is probably not as great as it used to be since fire damage was reworked, and a dense torso mod is significantly better protection for explosives. Do it if you can roll both and need it or like it. I agree that experimenting with combinations to find what works best for you is likely the best route forward.

Personally i would use it. However i have all legendary specials maxed out so i have perk points to burn. Asbestos torso is great for Earle and some other specific situations. Dense torso is great for even more explosive damage reduction.

Really depends on how you play and what events you do. If you can try a few different combos of these perks and mods and see what you feel works best for you.

I would use it. Fire and poison damage in this game are really brutal even in PA a couple molotovs will eat through my health in seconds.

I use Fireproof with the Dense mod, which works much better for fire/explosions. Fireproof isn't a main perk for me, it's situational. It does seem to make a difference, though, at least for my Bloodied Stealth Commando. As others mentioned, I highly suggest looking into the Dense mod.

The explosive damage reduction makes a difference, especially if you have any sort of explosive damage weapon and shoot it point blank.
Mooman Aug 3, 2024 @ 1:18am
For my explosive pyro Crusader pistol it is a must. Asbestos chest keeps me from lighting myself on fire and fireproof perk reduces further self damage from the explosion.

You can't always avoid a close up mob, particularly if you are also healing via friendly fire NPCs at say, Radiation Rumble.

It is very useful vs. Scorchbeasts, though... on the PTS it is currently bugged and does nothing... I hope it isn't missed and the bug goes live...

Imo they dont work well against the cremator gun. I have maxed out fireproof ect. Im rated at %100 fire proof but i still take dmg from my own gun all the time. Maybe its broken? Maybe im not doing something right ( but i doubt it been playing since launch on ps4 pc now ). Im maxed out on science cards and exsplosive cards ect. maybe im too powerful for my self?

Yep, I'm at 90% but also have 5 Demolition, seems one overrides the others as I'm on fire and smoking all the time.

With Cremator, slow burn, and max rank adrenaline + maxed grenadier + maxed demolition expert my base hit is around 600 with DOT over 4000.

I ditched fireproof and sizzling style for asbestos secret service armor and I never die from my own fire damage anymore :)

I might try that. Do you still run a round on fire-I like the animation.
