Computer/gaming chair recommendations?
I know this isn't a furniture forum, but I'm guessing there's more than a few people here that spend too much time sitting in front of their computer some days lol😜

What ya'lls using fot a chair? My little $50 Target special is ok for some things, but just isn't doing anymore for those... "extend" gaming days.

Hoping to not need to spend more than maybe $150 ish, but maybe could go a bit more depending on the chair.

I can recommend one NOT to get... cheap IKEA 'gaming' chairs. Bought one and it is so uncomfortable I've spent money on cushioning (didn't work...) that would have made it cost as much as a better brand.

The moral of the story, try before you buy and don't trust a few minutes of sitting in store (those floor models are well worn in).

Lol thanks, I'll keep that in mind 😁
That's sort of how I ended up with my current one. Needed one and Target was the closest with anything in stock.
Ran over and tried a couple, this one seemed ok. Couple years later and not so much 😜

Well, i wouldn't go for a "gaming chair", just go for a good quality "office chair", most of the time they're cheaper, have a better build quality and your back will thank you in the years to come...

Get one with mesh back support. Less sweaty

Especially with today's plug and play electronics - get an office chair. Odds are in a year you'll want to sit somewhere else, anyways. I'm currently on my sofa, but for really hardcore nerd gaming I might put the screen on the tv and creep down to the floor like a 7 year old.

I have an authentic leather office chair in my authentic office but, the cat mostly sits on it because I can't watch tubi/netflix/whatever in there. Heck, coming from the box-tv generation, sometimes I just sit the flat screen monitor down on the coffee table and game/wfh while I watch tv

I have one chair called S-Racer and it was not very good for my back. I also have a kneel chair. They are surprisingly comfortable but they have no back. I know it sounds odd but I use mine when my back hurts from my supposed "gaming" chair.

As Mooman said, the best way is to sit in a chair to determine what is best. I used all kinds of gel pads and back support cushions but nothing really helps. Probably a lot just to do with me though and a couple lower back injuries but the kneel chair gives a little relief.

About $200 in quality hardwood, workshop, and some mahogany or clear coat stain can be made into a beautiful chair that will outlive your grand kids if cared for properly. Simple draw string cushions for the seat and back to wash and replace when worn after a few years, and you got yourself a comfortable seat for gaming, writing, eating, etc.
I would second the recommendation to just get an office chair. I bought one a few years back that had a coiled spring seat and it was incredibly comfortable. After 3 or 4 years the back gave out, but I use the base as a stool now and sit in it whenever I feel like having a comfy butt. Bought big & tall chairs off amazon and meh they're all crummy. If I ever see another one with a coil spring seat I'll get it in a heartbeat.

Thanks all, I never actually thought about the office chair route for some reason lol. I will definitely look into that. :steamhappy:

I will say, as much as I prefer PC gaming, on the occasions I do anything on my PS4 the couch is really nice :D :D :steamhappy:

Rule of thumb:
If you want quality it will cost you
Also, don't buy "gaming" chairs.
Gaming is a code word for overly expensive and subpar quality.

Get professional help, from a professional chair store.

Ya, screw the gaming chair. Get a managers chair from staples.

I put the PC lower to the ground, like a TV stand, then I lay down and game while laying and leaning against pillows. It's pretty relaxing.

When I need the keyboard, it's on my belly and these laser mice work pretty good on my carpet.

I also use a controller for most things in fallout 76.
