PIP BOY NOW HAS FPS DROPS
Can't eat, can't drink, can't change grenades and using other buffs during combat is impossible. The FPS drops to a choppy 1 or 2 fps after mainly consuming an item from the pip boy. Needless to say, something as simple as using a med-x during combat has me stuck in the UI and obviously dead because it's so lagged that it will ignore button presses, and then open up again.

This is pathetic and a waste of subscription days. Your paying customer's demand you fix this. Bethesda cannot just leave it to happen permanently like the favourite wheel.

Not to defend Bethesda or anything, but this may be an issue on your end. Try file integrity, capping FPS, turning off vsync, all the normal half a days work to get FO76 to work. I know, it should just work, but it doesn't and everyone seems to have different problems, however, I have no problems except for the map thing right now and it's easily managed with space -> etc...

Unfortunately no. It's not on his end and he's not the only one with the issue.

Yep, it's even worse in power armor. It drops dpwn to 2 fps and is usually running at around 20fps. Gave me a headache.

i found that the gifts in your inventory unopened are doing it
Wack-A-Mole MLRS Jul 25, 2024 @ 9:06am
Yep, could be the Gifts, when I get to many Mutated Box'es I get real slow. Also when I'm carrying over 1100 lbs of stuff but have cards maxed out to do it and it' says I weight 280lbs.-It still gets boggy.

Played on several of my characters today. PA and no PA. Zero issues at all with pipboy. No lag at all. I did not have more than about 20-30 gifts at any time though so that may have been it.

I am going to defend Bethesda on this one, though, b/c other than an annoying series of map-related bugs, my fps and server stability has improved since the patch. So... I'm going to be the jerk on this one and ask 'What did you do to break your own game?', like you guys share ini "hot fixes" and nexus mod "updates" like you're all Beth Customer Support but honestly I dont think I could trust most of you to hook up comcast in my apartment.....

I mean the game does run better in most instances, but opening up pipboy/quickboy in certain areas runs like a slideshow. I did notice it gets worse the longer the game is open. So out of the 4 hours i usually play the first 2 are ok then by the third it starts to worsen and by the 4th hour it can be a slideshow if opened in the dangerous pastimes area, beasts of burden and an area thats been nuked.

My first thought is, if you're making edits to ini files doesn't the game immediately over-write any changes you made in notepad? Unless you make it Read Only, in which case the game that depends on that file cant make any edits, so it becomes a count down to the next weirdo bug. If you're using mods, very likely the base game is just being hidden by whatever the mod is overlaying - which will result in a drop in performance. Am I missing something? Did NexusMods magically figure out MMO edits beyond superficial cuts?

Don't use mods ever. Not only on f76, but in any game. Only ini. edits i did were to reduce shadow distance to 30000, the ipresentinterval=0, remove dof, force full screen and sharpen TAA. All things that shouldn't do anything to the pipboy and worked before without an issue. Again it just seems to worsen over time, my fps is locked at 65 fps using rtss(my monitors refresh rate). My setup is old, but runs the game uncapped 80-110fps in almost all areas except, dense cities and some events it can drop down to 55fps at its lowest. I have a GTX 1070ti oc at 2075mhz/ memory oc +300, i7 4790k oc to 4.4ghz, ddr3 oc to 2400mhz and a 1000 watt psu. Yes i stress tested for 2 hours with 0 crashes and temps under heavy load stay at 58-60°c for cpu and gpu 70°c. I am on medium preset with everything ultra/high except shadow distance low, dof off of course both because of ini. edits.

To be really honest? It works fine for me. Only FPS drop for me is in some areas like
in MossTown will drop around 9 FPS while that area was normally fine.

My point: maybe it has to do with the last patch / update?

Okay, I think the issue is we're from two different cultures - I still see 60fps as the golden standard for video gaming, coming from a time when the TV standard was 24-30 I've never seen the point in trying to push past 60 and frankly I dont think Chrono Trigger would run any better if I did. Is the physics engine designed for 60+ fps?

Haha i see 60fps as the standard as well for pc gaming at least and for console of course 30 is welcome. I just pushed mine to 65 to get rid of that ugly screen tearing that happens. I admit before i used to push for getting over 100, but with a 65hz monitor 100+ fps dont mean anything and its just extra stress and heat on the pc. From what i know of yes the physics engine can go up to 120fps and still be fine. I know with other fallout games and many older games going over 60 breaks them.

See, I have no map problems that I am aware of yet from my last session. The pipboy doesn't seem to "get over it", while the favourites wheel tends to. From what I can tell, the favourite wheel lag is either a public event/area looting thing or something to do with a daily quest and legendary item causing issue during a public event. Sometimes finishing the daily event or selling off my legendary weapons resolves that. As for the pipboy, It will resolve only to stop and potentially start again on the immediate next-item consumed or after the pipboy is opened and/or used again.
