I sided with him on all of my characters. I was on the fence, hard 50/50 between him and Rahmani cause both had good arguments on their judgments and their decisions. But every time I got to the final mission with the scientists I sided with Shin solely because Rahmani was too stubborn in the "forgive and forget" mindset so I sided with Shin since he was actually able to actually make a hard decision and mete out justice.

Though truthfully I wanted to side with Scribe Valdez since she was the "neutral" ending. She was actually originally a choice in the initial plans for the ending to Steel Dawn/Reign but was removed cause it was obvious the vast majority would have sided with her.
It's obvious that Shin feels very guilty about arming civilians, but I think what he did was right, arming civilians to protect the village, turning the village into a boss base are all good things, it's not his fault that raiders attacked the village, it's because of the raiders. In the end I asked him why he killed the researcher, he said he didn't want to make mistakes again he wanted to enforce the dogma of the BOS... . . .

As residents of Vault 76, we certainly don't want to be counted by a dogmatic military organization.
The issue isn't the morality of it, it is the practical judgment and result. Yes, he was right to arm the settlers in hopes that they would fight back against the raiders. Perhaps even help them fight back against them. But was it the smart decision to do so? Not really. They were just settlers, civilians wanting to resist the raiders. That doesn't mean they know how nor does it mean they have the skills to do so, and giving them weapons doesn't make them capable enough to put up any real chance to survive.

Raiders aren't much of a challenge against a fully trained and equipped squad of soldiers and/or fighters, but they are a very real and dangerous threat to civilians. Shin believed that simply giving the settlers the tools to defend themselves would mean the problem would solve itself and everyone would get a happy ending. In reality, however, the settlers instead put up incompetent and stubborn resistance against raiders which led to them burning down the settlement out of both dominance and spite - homes destroyed, communal services demolished, supplies burned or taken, and families killed. All lost in the fighting.

With or without the Brotherhood, the settlement was screwed either way. But Shin more than likely caused more suffering by having the Brotherhood interfere in the conflict. He learned this lesson and now he understands that the best and smart option for the Brotherhood is to not get involved with any locals in the area, hence why he got angry if you promise the folks at Foundation to provide them help from the Brotherhood. And why he wishes to execute the scientists, that is the only option to maximize the chances that their experimenting won't endanger anyone else.

Like I said, I believe Shin is actually capable to make the hard decisions and mete out justice even by getting his hands dirty, or at least get some results. The fact that Shin had some character development even prior to the story evidence of his disciplined and experienced character. How anyone can support Rahmani is beyond me, it's great she is optimistic and is altruistic in the Brotherhood's cause but it is ultimately short-sighted and not realistic.

I didn't kill him. Although I am the Enclave, I think the Paladin is a good guy. I didn't kill Knight Shin either. I'm just curious if someone will kill him? What will the ending be?

BoS? Enclave? As far as I'm concerned, them badges are just targets to aim at. Of course if given the opportunity to delete one of them vermin i'd take it! Down with all fascists.

I hope the other Brotherhoods come over here and we nuke them.

Appalachia already had its own Brotherhood of Steel, it didn't need more.

There doesn't seem to be any fascist faction... maybe the Blood Eagles? But they're just some drug dealers.

Have you got the communicator up and running? Are the Elders coming to Appalachia?

From a military operations perspective neither BOS group was/is up to the job. The new group badly needs reinforcement both in hardware and people. And competent leadership. Killing anyone isn't going to address the problems.
