Why not? There are no downsides, we all get more people to play with.

There is actually 1 ''downside'' I can think of, and that's how easy the game is to mod on PC with various cheesy mods such as remove all barriers etc that simply isn't fair to console players who can't use these. In general I dislike these mods as they just ruin the game.

Consoles are slower than most modern PCs. This effects everyone when poor drive speed factors in. Ever played Darktide? Any time you are in a crossplay group at the end of a match it takes forever to load. All PC users? No real issue unless they are not using a SSD. In my experience any time I join randoms and cross play is enabled I can tell who is and isn't a console user and its always a negative experience. Lack of communication, co-operation and effectiveness. Not to mention consoles get aim assist with controllers and most PC gamers don't want to deal with some of the player base having a dev approved cheat enabled. I'd much rather stay playing with PC folks for the rest of my life.

coze consoles are only place where PC's hackers/dupers cant do a thing,
