Please don't bring a Fat Man to Radiation Rumble
Or other indoor events. I know you're trying to have fun and it can be hard to remember that there are also other players other than yourself that are trying to have fun, but please try to think of other players and don't let your fun completely obstruct theirs. Just a humble plea from a fellow Fallout enjoyer. Thanks! :VBOY:

Edit: Just a side note, I know it's not your fault that I have a potato pc, but indoor Fat Man actually tanks my fps.. :(

A ~10 year old gtx 1060 with even older i7-3770 and some hdd. My pc is on it's last legs, but it still runs this game mostly fine, just a few things hurt performance.
If I may give steps to adjust the Particles Settings (more directly than just Choosing something like Medium Preset)

- open Windows File Explorer (you can right-click on the Start Button and choose File Explorer, as one way)
- in the top Location bar (like Address Bar for internet browsing), just type in the word Documents and hit Enter, that will open your user Documents folder
- in here, go down to My Games folder and go into it (double click)
- then in My Games, go into the Fallout 76 folder
- in here, the various configuration files the game uses to start up, end with the file extension ".ini" (if you can't see it, it's ok). double click on the "Fallout76Prefs" file to open the Fallout 76 Preferences main file
- scroll down to the section called "Particles" (it has square brackets around it (square brackets can mess up the text in Steam Forum posts, so i am just avoiding it here)). Change the number of "iMaxDesired=" to a lower number, even something like 75 (from the default of 750 if i remember correctly) so it's nice and low. that's it

that will change (at least the one thing of) the amount of Particles on the screen at one time. one source of Particles in the game is things like weapon effects, smoke, explosions, etc.

Shadows are a big GPU killer (any game), try lowering that first (Distance, Quality, etc).

Lowering Resolution can help too (eg. 1280x720).

Some people find Fullscreen Mode works better, some people find Borderless Windowed works better - try both and see which is better for your hardware during Events/Combat/etc.

Just shooting out some ideas... GL with it mate
Thank you thank you, I'll keep this in mind but outside of the rare Fat Man in a cave, I'm satisfied with my game's performance.
Knock on wood, I haven't had performance issues from Fat Man. Oddly, during Fasnacht my artillery seems to be severely lagging the game for me. For a while I had a basic camp I'd spawn near Moonshine Jamboree to bombard it with artillery, for my amusement, but I plopped it down near Fasnacht for the same reason. I rain down artillery on the toads, and this somehow seems to nearly crash it. It slows down and seems to nearly freeze for a few seconds. (I'm not on PC.)
FK Bethesda for allowing so many trolls in this game.

I wouldn't assume that all these players using these weapons are trolling. I see this a lot on these forums, others getting super aggressive towards the players using weapons like the cremator instead of Bethesda for not adding an option to disable screen effects. I just wish players would be a little bit more considerate with how they use these weapons, if you see another player fighting a mob, you don't need to lob your fire directly onto their feet, maybe aim a little to the side so you'll still get the tag while not blinding the other player/s.

For everything elese however? Non-VATS, multi-barrel. For high-spread/area coverage and focus on the DoT "quality" instead, with Bloody Mess (as one example) or other stuff. Especially good with Vampire, since every "tag" of the AOE that you do on large groups gives you a 2% heal, saving you from a potential self-kill by being too close to the explosion and applying that DoT on yourself.

I use ricochet to tag for Vampire, usually, though not on the Cremator. Vampire is my Ultracite Gatling Plasma and the 50 cal machine gun I use to burn all that extra ammo I get from using Doctor's Orders with the upgraded receiver.

It would be nice if people didn't ground fire the thing, unless they need to, I do ground fire the Cremator in Radiation Rumble (or any other thing with dump NPCs trying to die at every turn) since dropping the canister at the feet of an NPC taking melee damage kills their attacker and heals them at the same time. It would definitely be better for Bethesda to just fix the really bad effects they use, but we all know they're not going to do that, though I suppose there is probably a mod out there to change the visuals on things since that's the only way Bethesda games ever get fixed properly.

Please don't bring one to any public event.

Okay, I think I'm starting to see the problem, I just crashed for the third time in the last few days from somebody laying down a barrage of Cremator canisters on top of me while someone else is lobbing fatman rounds everywhere...

And I have a pretty good PC.

Fashchnat has really brought out all the stupid I'd not yet seen and put it all in one place...

Where I need to be since the same six plans keep dropping, and they're not the three I need.
What is that blue-ish light thrower that some players are using? Throws like 3-4 light and bright blue projectiles in an arc. So cool! Sometimes forget about the fighting, when I see those.

Never crashed for me and i had that situation quite some times during fastnacht. 13700K, RX6600XT, 32GB Ram.
LISTEN YOU I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS WEIGHT SHAMING!!

I'll have you know males of any body type are most welcome at the Radiation Rumble - even ghoulified overweight troglodytes... we're vault dwellers c'mon you expect em to be fit with a healthy tan?

Sorry OP.
The intrusive demands of my foul humor finally took charge.

I think the issue for me is more that i have a 100W USB-C PD cable powering it and, if my battery is low, heavy GPU loads can cause it to try and dramatically throttle the visual spam and 76 does *not* handle that well at all.
