I know this thread will inevitably turn into Godwin's law but I have to ask...

Why do people get so hostile towards people AFKing during the Fasnacht Event?!?

It’s seems like people put more effort into complaining and “stopping” AFKers than the actual event itself. Explain to me the problem? Simply put:

AFKers being in the event does not affect you in absolutely anyway at all.

And the whole argument of tHeY dId’Nt eArN iT Is weak. It is funny to me because I bet 90% of you in game give out lots of things to other players for free BUT when it comes to an event the generosity stops?

Like what is the difference from someone not earning the 1000 wood themselves that you just gave them and someone not “earning” rewards in a particular annual event? And how about those players that spend the whole event trying to push AFKers out of the event zone with a chainsaw? They are not participating at all or helping during the event either....but they deserve the rewards? And the guys with the well thought out plan of nuking the event area to kill the AFKers daily- great idea...now low levels can’t participate and are forced to move servers, Congrats! You're a huge douche.

I’ve personally never been to an event that had under 5 people in it so it isn’t like you have to carry the whole event by yourself while someone is doing nothing but running against a wall.

And to the guys crying about AFKers can you honestly say you never AFKed to gain something in any game before?

The way I look at it is as simple as this- It is a fellow Fallout 76 player and fan not wanting to miss out. People (actually) work full time jobs and don’t want to miss out on specific limited time awards in their favorite game. People have kids they have to watch, have adult responsibilities that the majority of us here experience and know all too well which take priority over their hobby. We don’t have time to post on the forum all day and jump on every hour to play, so I get it. I totally get it.

Anyways! I say AFK away AFKers! cure that FOMO and good luck! You're gonna need it with the drop rates in this game.

The only time AFKers bug me is if they join a team just so the rest of the team can contribute while they watch and collect. If you are not willing to contribute to the team's effort don't join.

Just had a Fasnacht event where there were over 10 players there and EVERYONE except me was AFK. Event had started so i FT to it and it was well over 1 minute old and no one had spoke to the MC to even start the event yet.

Every single player was AFK in a corner with a macro running walking into a wall or jumping on the spot to avoid the DC timeout. Just sad.

Not the first time i have seen this at Fasnacht or other events. Just not as bad. No i have not ever deliberately AFK in order to get something. Sure i have had to answer phone or something far more important than a PC game at times while at events.

End of the day i could care less if players choose to deliberately AFK or not. But if it means the game cannot function because no one is actually doing the event it is a bit much.

LOL I guess the game is so engaging and fun that people stay idle for hours. These are probably zoomers lying or sleeping in their beds, while they "parked" their characters for events so they can farm XP, ammo, legendary weapons, stimpaks, materials etc. for free while doing literally nothing. A genius game design. Park your charcter and get everything for doing nothing. Only in Bethesda games. But I must admit it's so ridiculous that it's funny, I might even log in tonight to check those idle AFK zoomers/zombies. It sounds really interesting.
