Every action they take is in an effort to push more and more players into paying for Fallout 1st.
I genuinely think the only major downside the that there's no more repeating atoms, with no makeup for that in the rest of the season rewards. All this "less content" stuff is in your head. Which fair enough, the new format does make it feel that way, even if untrue.
More grind, fewer rewards and even if you have a 1st subscription, you are still losing out.
ATOMS which require real money to Obtain unless you are in FO1st. To 'Access' the last Bonus page in the Season REQUIRES taking 95 rewards from Previous Pages.. Meaning to even be ALLOWED to SPEND more tickets on stuff REQUIRES Fallout 1st.
Do you see it yet? Once you see it you can not unsee it..
What the devs previously did that made me love them so much was that very little was actually gated by money That is to say, if you enjoyed playing the game enough but couldn't afford a sub you could still grind the ever living crap outta 76 to gain atoms - no claim of P2W could be perceived as entirely valid.
We knew that would get worse with MS. We had just also hoped they would provide the experience to make that cash grab worth it to the players that can pay while making the gating minimal. I rank the new system D+, because it is not buggy. It inspires hatred for all companies involved.
If we include the last page then in total we are at 105 unlocks this season that you can get without Fallout 1st. How much do you usually get per season?
I stand corrected on this point. There is EXACTLY 95 non FO1st awards to obtain, if you include everything on the 1st Bonus Page. I would then point out you have to take all the krap if you want it or not, in order to take the last Bonus page. Things you might actually want are locked behind FO1st to obtain.
This is still worse than the previous system where you get everything free past level 100 without 'special conditions'.
Previous scoreboards there were 100 ranks. Ranks 1-99 had base (non-1st) items plus some had first extras. Then rank 100 usually had 3-6 items on them. Anything past rank 100 was a repeatable piece of fluff, except every 10 ranks you got 100 atoms.
This season:
Ranks 1-99 have 85 non-1st items plus another 45 1st items.
Rank 100 (bonus page 1) has 10 non-1st items.
Rank 150 (BP2) has several items on there that require 75 tickets to redeem.
To get to the repeatable you must be rank 150 and have collected 95 items
This means that a non-1st person has to collect all 85 items on pages 1-13 and all 10 items on BP1. The grand total of tickets required to collect all of those items requires 120 ranks on the board. They will then get NOTHING unless they hit rank 150. However, they will have 30 ranks of tickets saved up to buy 75 ticket repeatable.
A 1st person has it worse. The extra 45 items they get on pages 1-13 require 758 tickets. That is slightly more than 30 ranks. So they have ground those ranks, and do not have any tickets saved up. (If they bought everything).
More work.
Fewer Rewards.
Hopefully those nostalgia dumps will be in a 'glad it's not that anymore' style, you know walk uphill both ways.
The only ethically sourced, non-GMO, free range battle pass I've played was in Deep Rock Galactic.
I miss the scoreboard too, because the 100-150 is a scam now. I can't believe they expect me to play their game.
As compared to what?
Any mobile game I've ever played.(All that gatcha nonsense starts melting my brain.) I could misremember but Genshin Impact didn't have a free battle pass it was an even worse paid for daily log in. FFBE didn't have a battle pass but it was a free daily login. Phantasy Star Online had a sparce f2p battle pass.
I'll admit I've never played Fortnite maybe it's really good for f2p?
But MW had a pay only battle pass? iirc That was OK for a while cause you used to be able to earn enough points to get the next pass but they stopped that at some point, idk how it is now.
League of Legends battlepass is sparce for f2p but I have an old as hell open beta account with every champ so I don't need anything in that game. It also has two fp2 battle passes but if you don't play TFT it's a nothing burger.
Diablo 4 battle pass is even more sparce than LoL and in line or worse than my recollection of free pass in mobile games.
Hearthstone Battle Pass is actually better than Fallout 76 for f2p 100% but the game itself is way, way worse.
