Poor game performance
Any tricks to get his game running smoothly? No matter what it feel like 30 fps all the time. And terrible input delays/latency. Yet I'm using a 5800X3D + RTX 3080 Ti, 32GB DDR4-3200 and all SSDs in the system, Win10 22H2 all up to date. Microsoft Store and apps all up to date, etc. Game Mode + Xbox Gamebar enabled.

I tried at 1080p and 1440p, 165Hz
Gsync Enabled, Low Latency on Ultra

I tried with Gsme Mode off, no difference.

I have no problems staying connected to the game world for hours at a time but it stutters like crazy all the time.

I tried changing the game exe in Task Manager to High Priority and all that did was cause game to crash randomly or causing random disconnect from server issues.

The game has terrible optimization and will stutter all the time. All Bethesda games are optimized for 30-60fps only on an engine/designer level, you can't really brute force it higher with better hardware because the game won't use more than a certain amount of CPU cores effectively, IPC improvements can help but even with modern hardware the 1% lows will always be 60 or lower in the most demanding areas, pretty sure this has something to do with a RAM limitation in the creation engine.

Make sure you are running Fullscreen exclusive, you need to edit the Fallout76prefs.ini and change: Borderless=0, Fullscreen=1. This will improve performance in Skyrim/Fallout4/Fallout76.

Keep Vsync ON, do not turn it off and anyone who tells you to do this is a dum dum. iPresentInterval=1, do not use Nvidia Vsync which is known to cause stuttering in some games.

You also need to use the Nvidia Profile Inspector program to enable Gsync for this game, it's turned off by default for some weird reason despite Fallout 4/Skyrim having it enabled.

Use RivaTuner to cap to 60fps, you should always do this for Skyrim/Fallout4/Fallout76.

Ok I'll give those a try and see.

Since I optimized NV and Fallout 4 quite well and those run great even with tons of mods

What are you talking about?

You can simply use geforce control panal to set max framerate after applying the ipresentinterval=0.

Don't listen to guy who told you to keep the ingame vsync on, that will make your game jittery and crap.

Use a Fallout76Custom.ini to make your changes and make sure you have the setting to turn off ingame vsync -

ipresentinterval=0

Then cap fps to the 160fps mark or so to avoid you when wearing PA getting stuck in instanced areas with your now awesome fps zinging off.

Yea while RTSS Overlay can be useful it's pointless now to use Fps Limit from there when can just set in NVIDIA CP.

I appreciate the help though usually I'm the one tinkering and figure this out and help others but I just didn't have much time and just needed straight to the point help.

Thanks again.

If you live in a country where the game does not have a server, it will be played on an American server, hence the delays, and yes, they are what make you feel like you are not playing the game smoothly. Unfortunately it sucks, but that's the game.

I have the games VSync turned off and run in true fullscreen mode and i get great performance at 1440p with everything on max I hit my 140 FPS cap basically everywhere on the map. I also enabled GSync for the game as my monitor supports it. Runs great now. Good FPS and much smoother and no stutters.

Leaving the games VSync turned on was the cause of all my issues I was getting before.

Well I live near Wash DC so that shouldn't be an issue. And I get 500Mbps Down / 150 Mbps Up all day long. No problems getting good pings in DayZ or Rust.

I was having the same issue day one. Was getting 30-40fps on my PC. 2080TI and Ryzen 5900X. I fixed this by putting the game in fullscreen mode and all of a sudden I was getting 110fps everywhere.

Its funny when people give stupid solutions and forget that every monitor sold in the past 8-10 years has adaptive sync meaning your refreshrate doesnt matter because its literally - in SYNC - with your framerate. Also Vsync in NVCPL should be enabled for optimal Gsync inputlag regardless of game (unless you want uncapped fps)

Regardless this game runs like ♥♥♥♥.

Im EU and most of the people I encounter are US. So theres no server in EU it seems.

the one guy saying you need presentinterval=1 is quite the jester. had to give an award.

(don't use presentinterval=1)

I don't experience any stutters or lags, but graphics look outdated no matter what rig or settings you have. I hope that Bethesda will implement some visual upgrades in the near future, although I have no high hopes. I don't understand how 14 years old Fallout New Vegas with one ENB preset (10 MB - 50 MB) can look better than Fallout 76.
