Carry weight issues in power armor
Just want to preface this with I have no mods on my armor and or cards/perks equipped that lower weight of anything BESIDES heavyweight guns, I have Bear Arms up to 2 levels so it lowers the weight of my heavy guns by 60%. And no, I don't have anything equipped that lowers the weight of food/chems. I don't have extra pieces of PA in my inventory, either.

My problem seems to be unique, but like I said, I do not have any perks or armor equipped that increases weight capacity when not wearing PA. My PA also doesn't have any weight related mods. My problem with wearing the PA is not that my carry weight decreases because it doesn't, my problem is that the current weight that I have on my character goes up by 41 pounds. And I can't find anything in my inventory that has a suddenly has a weight gain.

I also use X-01 armor since it fits my PA/Heavy Gun build.

My weight out of PA: 195/250 (this is with PA in my inventory, if I set it in the world my weight is 185/250)
My weight in PA: 236/250

I actually thought it was the weight of my guns that was causing the issue with the PA, but the problem with that is that my guns weigh less in the PA then out of it.

The weight of my guns out of PA: 7.2
The weight of my guns in PA: 1.8

Edit - forgot to mention
I keep a pretty close eye on my inventory and what I am picking up, I haven't picked up anything and the example from above is me logging into the game and typing the numbers I see in the PA and out of the PA and then exiting the game.
It is not a visual glitch- this has been happening the last few days I have been playing, no amount of exiting and restarting is helping. I haven't changed anything about my load out or what I carry since I have been having this glitch.

QUICK ANSWER

I figured it out, its the backpack. I logged in for the first time in months (maybe even a year), first thing I did was unequipped my backpack my game crashed right after I did that so I reloaded up the game, and even though my game displayed to me that the backpack was unequipped (it was still in my inventory) it still was technically equipped, it just wasn't equipped visually on my character or in the UI. So I was getting the -90% chem weight reduction without being shown visually in the UI that it was. So basically I have 41 pounds of chems without realizing it. I fixed it by fully taking the backpack out of my inventory, putting it in my stash box, taking it back out and equipping it.

I would even go so far as to unequip and re-equip all the perk cards too just in case.

Never had that happen to myself to my knowledge, but I've heard the cards can be wonky too, especially when they are the animated ones, and taking them out and back in again is supposed to fix that.

I suppose I never thought of that, only cards I have are related to AP regen and damage input/outputs. Then a few PA cards that makes the durability last longer and fusion core stuff. The unequip and re-equip armor piece I have already tried. I have never had a problem with the game that stumped me this bad.

I would go so far as to remove everything from my inventory, then add it back in, double checking as I go.

Usually something like this happens when you are using a backpack (which becomes unequipped) or when Power Armor didn't equip one of the pieces.

Not saying you didn't know that. Just adding it in in case someone else has a similar problem and searches the forum.

When using a PA you loose all the benefits you have, like no backpack, no stats for your underarmor and armor (no more legendary effects, too).

It's only the stats/legendary effects of the PA that count until you exit it ... .

I know but I said I dont have any mods or perks (forgot to say legendary effects) that increase carry weight or decrease carry weight besides the heavy guns and even then my heavy guns weigh less in my PA then they do out of my PA. The weight of the items in my inventory going up. I can only carry 250 in and out of power armor but when carrying the chassis in my inventory I weigh 185, then I get into my PA and the weight of my character is 236. The weight of my items is going up even though I have no mods, perks or legendary perks to affect this OUT of my PA. I thought it was the individual pieces of my PA but the individual pieces of my PA weigh about 80 pounds. I only gain about 41 pounds getting into my PA. I have no idea why this is, I have absolutely nothing but the Bear Arms equipped that lowers the weight of anything.

What's the weight of your regular armor? That gets unequipped when using Power Armor.

I don't even wear armor actually but when I take it out of my stash and wear it, it's only 12 pounds, it supposedly weighs even less in my inventory when I am in PA. I am not a new player, but this issue has started happening only 2 days ago, and it's driving me mad.

I know you said "anything", but you do not even have a backpack?
Asking just in case.

While wearing the power armor, I would unequip, then re-equip each piece to see if there's a bug in there some where.

I suppose I never thought of that, only cards I have are related to AP regen and damage input/outputs. Then a few PA cards that makes the durability last longer and fusion core stuff. The unequip and re-equip armor piece I have already tried. I have never had a problem with the game that stumped me this bad.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Its so weird that while my guns decrease in weight everything else stays the same weight but some how my weight goes up by 41 pounds. Do you suggest that I try to take everything out of my inventory while in the PA and see where the weight is coming from ? I calculated that the weight of all the pieces of my PA are 80 pounds (I calculated this when wearing the PA) .

Get calibrated shocks on the legs for extra carry weight.

I suspect that there is a bug with backpacks and carry weight rn. My husband is having the exact same problem as you. I am hoping all of these random carry weight influxes can be solved by unquipping, leaving to the game to desk top- reloading the game to reequip.
