Do the items in them last forever or do they vanish x amount of hours later?

We went over this awhile ago and seems after 50 reply's - No one knows for sure. I drop stuff in them almost daily but have not been on the same server for more than 2 hrs to go back and check.

It's hard to say because as soon as you leave out for a bit and come back, you're playing on a different host with different players and thus different contents within stash boxes. I know that also because I will jump in play for a bit, get off for a 5-10 minute break, reenter world again and I can re-loot everything all over again. That wouldn't happen if I was re-entering the same world host.

The contents will stay a while, as long as server is active for the day I guess?

I can keep a private server running and swap characters, and see the things my other characters dropped into the donation box.

Yep, I have opened some up that had enough stuff to overload a players weight. I already carry more stuff than WalMart so it safe from me.

Yea what I do when I have time from cast traveling around is I keep finding various recipes and plans that are already known to me, so I put them in donation box by the Wayward Bar I think it's called, that has the robot in the pin that says "Moooo"

Since this an area that new players would have to come across fairly early and often. So I hope it helps new players out. As getting recipes and plans for crafting can help the earlier you get them.

this helped me early on too! So thanks :D Someone helped me years ago with this or just dropping a paper bag but that doesnt last long on ground. Was while at the station a few times i got it. Got the fixer rifle twice among other goodies. Even today got a few items, two pistols and a rare gatling laser among other items at a players home. They just returned, did few things and logged and after the house vanished, paper bag XD.
