As a veteran player i can say all my camps have defenses read turrets (heavy laser turrets) and never since i play the game (i play since day 1) i did an encounter that my turrets triggers PvP, even with wanted players in my camp it does not trigger at all.
Hope it helps a bit, but again about PvP i can't tell you much.
Somebody in these discussions said that if you eventually lock something (door, container etc) in the camp and somebody tried to lockpick it, the turrets would attack and they could destroy the whole camp....
Seeking for a confirmation on this aside, why would you want to lock away things?
Is it the stash limit so you use additional containers? Is it fusion cores either on reactors or on chargers? Can people steal those?
The only scenario I can think of they attracting more npcs is, when they attack an npc far away and their group would get triggered to run down...
Do you happen to know if they trigger pvp though?
if the turret is shooting an enemy and the other player walks into it they can shoot the turret and destroy your camp (Which means NOTHING, because you can repair it all)
Locking resource generators just means they cannot open the container and take the resource generators' generated items. To me, I always keep them unlocked as they mean nothing and will always collect these items.
You cannot lock stash boxes, fusion core rechargers, workbenches or other similar objects.
a: your camp will disappear a few mins after you logoff.
b: you can switch servers by leaving to main screen.
c: building enclosed rooms without doors prevents lockpicking, making players have to destroy walls first setting your turrets pvp.
as for why we lock? well i tried to make enough plants and water devices so i could have some left even if someone took some, but they often take everything.
*shrug* go figure, im using my grow nades nowadays if it happens but im keeping most other things unlocked and unbarred except the loot droid
Happy to help my friend, people can NOT steal your fusion cores out of your fusion core charger infact? They can't even target it, same as the Cryo freezer.
I personally would recomment to lock your things like: water resources, or like me my birthday cake, your company tea or like that.
When people picklock you items? They instantly become wanted, not that exciting but there always will be players that wanna hunt them down.
In short? Place minimum 2 to 3 turrets in your camp, lock your items (lvl3 lock) you care about and now the PRO TIP: Enjoy the game my friend, do whatever you want in the game, make friends and maybe we will meet each other some day (PC platform).
Enjoy mate!!!
When the camp is destroyed you have to pay for repairment costs though I guess, right? If so, it's not nothing.
I see... Ty....
They seem to be a little bit laggy, I noticed as well..
That is a great idea, the enclosed rooms... Only for containers and gardens though I would assume cause I notice that we can't run wires through walls...
What is a loot droid?
You so lovely... Thank you... I noticed there's no text chat right? So other than voice chat and emotes, we can't really interact I guess... And 90% of the people I encountered just ran passed by me... Only one couple kept on shooting me, but I didn't respond other than giving them a thumbs down.
I do wanna play it the way I want it but I'm new to the multiplayer aspect of FO universe... so things really tend to shape your gameplay, but thank you for the suggestions.
Turrets will aggro and draw in increased PvE encounters
Turrets won't instigate PvP
What you want to do is
a.) Build far away from any workshop, workshops CAN be used to instigate CAMP pvp and from there players can destroy your camp
b.) Turn pacifist on... it mitigates issues, but some hacked weapons / cheaters CAN bypass it and kill pacifist players anywhere (only had it happen a couple times, but a small minority can do it)... if you have any form of PvP at your camp they CAN destroy your camp
c.) Avoid the wanted status, that can allow people to destroy your camp
What you read was PROBABLY
2 other players with missile camps engaging in 'PvP' with each other after dropping missile camp bases at your base... these players then 'skillfully' dodge the inbound missiles from their buddies camp. They do so with your camp in the line of fire so that when the missiles splash down it destroys your camp
You can download a mod to text chat with others who use the mod... TTBOMK no one has been banned from using that mod yet but it is a technical TOS violation and mics are better
The couple who were shooting you
99% they were trying to draw your attention to pickup a loot bag of gifts from them
1% they were trying to lure you to a workshop and from there kill you for your junk
Bugfesta stripped the intended always PvP mechanics from their game around wastelanders (4 ish years ago)
now pvp is difficult to do
No txt chat my friend, there are mods for it but do it at your own risk, some people have those mods for years without any problems, some people got banned instantly ( i know a few). Mods are basicly NOT allowed so be careful about it my friend and use them at your own risk.
Just explore, learn, fight, laugh, enjoy the game mate. There is a lot to do in Fallout 76. If you are on PC and need help? You can always add me.
