New Player. I need to craft 5.56 but I cant find any lead any tips?

Dont know why they never teach new players. Me too saving on ammo when i first started until i realized the most fundamental aspect of the game in order to prevent ammo from ever depleting. That is to set up camp near a lead deposit and start collecting them periodically. Basicallt get free ammo by doing nothing.

Hit up the gyms, a very good spot is the fire station close to the Rusty Pick free travel / legendary vendor.

Lots of weights (scrapping into lead) and a crafting station in the same building.

If you go to the monorail elevator, at the top, there's a bunch of bags of cement and 20lb weights.

Getting there was a challenge, but there weren't any enemies once I got their.

There's a way to highlight world items that contain specific materials when scrapped. Scroll to the Junk tab in your Pip-Boy, choose Component View and from there you can choose what scrap you are looking for. Now any world item that contains lead will have a magnifying glass to the left of it's name when you look at it. You can toggle them on and off as needed.

Charleston Fire Department should have 84 lead in form of 14 weights, however: weighs offer little yield to weight ratio
if you want best yield/weight ratio, look for rat poison, you can find five inside church at Kanawha County Cemetery
