Questions from a noob
started the game with the earlier last week and I'm currently lvl 27 and got myself whats starting to resemble a build, but I have some general questions about the game if some people wouldn't mind chiming in with opinions/answers:

1) With repairs, weapon modding/crafting I find myself running low on gears and screws quite often, is there a way to craft them? is there good method to farm them that isn't ransacking every place for desk fans/typewriters/pocket watches etc..

2) I find myself getting pulled in multiple different directions. Every time I finish a stage of a quest it feels like 3 new quests pop up, are there any quests that I ABSOLUTELY need to do ASAP for easier progression in the game? (like if specific plans are locked behind a quest)

3) Is there a way to farm plans in general? I feel like I don't find many outside of vendors, and most vendors are super pricey on them

4) Fusion cores, I finally scavenged together a full set of power armour, but I'm hesitant to use it because every core I find is at like 5%-10% power, I've also been checking vendors and haven't seen any for sale.. is there a way to get some that are fully charge?

5) Finally, how do I get lvl 3 lockpicking? I've got a card for 1 and 2, but haven't gotten a third card and all these lvl 3 locks I can't pick look so tantalizing

thank you for any input/help

you should buy bulk of resources at bigger settlement from bot vendor.
charisma 3 lv perk of bargain is a must.

screws are one of harder items to get if you'r not in end game , those drop from yao guai and wendigo , boss fight in mononga mine (if i recall corectly) with Earl give you tons off those.

for armor and weapon repairs there are 2 ways , luck based perks while using them and int based for up to 200% repair value.
agility have white knight perk to keep condition of armor for longer while int have one responsible for weapon endurance.

inteligence give more max durability to item while crafting while luck let you get items in better condition on drop.

as for direction , it's up to you , those quest have lvl set up from top but don't give super rewards , and items scale up to player lvl while given.

depending on plan , some are in crates , boxes , safes , some vendor only , use Wikipedia for that one.
event's tend to have better plans.

fusion cores are hard to find , generators , vendors , player vendors. can be crafted at chemical station if you have items required , it dosn't matter that much , once you get amo factory or ask some one to sell you those are cheap as corn.

lvl up , petk cards have minimum lvl required.

1. Repair cost is the same whether you are at 99% durability or completely broken. At 27, I would just pick up a new weapon. Long term, learn what material items scrap into and what types of scrap you use the most. You'll just pick up those items as you play.

2. Nope. I would do the Garrahan HQ quest to craft Excavator Power Armor though.

3. Player Vendors can have a bunch for dirt cheap.

4. Power Armor still works with 0%. You just can't run/fast travel/whatever. Fusion Generators occasionally have partial charged cores. Player vendors have them and they sneak into your inventory whenever you get a Laser Gatling Gun (crafted or event reward).
