I got hooked, but for me it's better than playing stuff like dota.
The world itself is fantastic. The environmental storytelling is excellent. Slow down. Look at what the world around you is suggesting. Listen to the audio tapes. You are supposed to feel alone because... you are.
Well, you WERE. Wastelanders changed that by adding a bunch of worthless humans with forgettable quests.
Finding the remains of Operation Touchdown lacks impact when you've already had to deal with the new Brotherhood of Steel and their lame issues.
Wastelanders update many years ago added heaps of humans all around the entire map and recent changes added even more in locations all around the vault.
Unless you are specifically only going looking for robots there are heaps of people around.
Also a lot of fun is playing with a real life friend which makes the game even more funnier.
In short? Can't get enough of the game.
This is Appalachia. Mostly wilderness to begin with. A place for hunting, fishing and camping.
Then getting into lore there was economic decline as automation took most of the jobs. The human population was low to begin with.
The map is the best Bethesda has made (still not a great map compared to other games). Towns are connected to power stations. Golf courses have holes you can follow. Ski resorts have ski runs you can go down.
Slowing down and looking at the small details you'll see a lot. Just a shame that BGS's map guy, Nate Purkeypile, quit...
OP is stuck in the Past and just randomly posted an out of date statement (by what 4 years now?).
