Why Do We Keep Coming Back to an Empty World?
Hey Fallout 76 Players,

A lot has been said about Fallout 76, a game that tries to throw us into a post-apocalyptic world. Unfortunately, not everything about it rocks. First off, the game’s mostly populated with robots instead of people, which really drains the life out of the interactions that made previous Fallout games so rich. It feels kind of lonely and superficial when you're exploring.

Also, the world itself isn’t all that exciting to check out. It seems like the developers missed a beat in making these ravaged lands feel alive, which makes roaming around more of a chore than an adventure. The lack of intriguing places, quests, and stories turns wandering these empty spaces into a dull routine.

And let’s not skip over the technical stuff: the game is buggy. Server issues, graphical glitches, and gameplay bugs often spoil the fun.

So, after pointing all this out, I've gotta ask: why do you guys keep playing Fallout 76? What keeps you coming back to this game? I’m genuinely curious because your experience and perspective might shed some light for those pondering whether to dive in or give it a pass.

Its all about grind and stuff. Random schemes, seasons and inability to outright get the stuff you want.

I got hooked, but for me it's better than playing stuff like dota.

The world is huge with many locations, but I think you are right, NPCs and quests are mostly generic, dull and boring, and there is no real lore and atmosphere like in previous Fallout games. It's a reflection of the quality of devs who work for Bethesda. I think over time they hire more and more incompetent people, and they also chase ESG scores. Anyway, if you think Fallout 76 is bad I dare you to try Starfield lol.

Human NPCs drained the soul out of the game.

The world itself is fantastic. The environmental storytelling is excellent. Slow down. Look at what the world around you is suggesting. Listen to the audio tapes. You are supposed to feel alone because... you are.

Well, you WERE. Wastelanders changed that by adding a bunch of worthless humans with forgettable quests.

Finding the remains of Operation Touchdown lacks impact when you've already had to deal with the new Brotherhood of Steel and their lame issues.

This game is the closest one time wise to when the bombs dropped. So it makes sense that there are not as many humans around.

Wastelanders update many years ago added heaps of humans all around the entire map and recent changes added even more in locations all around the vault.

Unless you are specifically only going looking for robots there are heaps of people around.

...we're still dropping bombs, for that matter. Humans may want to stay in their safe little boxes.

Mostly robots? What's the problem? They are delightful, insulting and call me chump. Win.
I play the game since day 1 with some breaks in between and still come back, do play now 1 and a half years straight every single day caus i like the game, for me PERSONALLY there is a lot to do, i always set personal goals read achievements,

Also a lot of fun is playing with a real life friend which makes the game even more funnier.

In short? Can't get enough of the game.

Ravaged lands feel alive... what?

This is Appalachia. Mostly wilderness to begin with. A place for hunting, fishing and camping.

Then getting into lore there was economic decline as automation took most of the jobs. The human population was low to begin with.

The map is the best Bethesda has made (still not a great map compared to other games). Towns are connected to power stations. Golf courses have holes you can follow. Ski resorts have ski runs you can go down.

Slowing down and looking at the small details you'll see a lot. Just a shame that BGS's map guy, Nate Purkeypile, quit...

I stopped at "First off, the game’s mostly populated with robots instead of people" and by the looks of it everybody else in here did not read that part.
OP is stuck in the Past and just randomly posted an out of date statement (by what 4 years now?).
