no sound after intro
im using speakers on my monitor.
there are no other devices connected (speakers or microphone).
drivers are up to date.
hdmi-cable is connected directly to graphics card.
intro has sound, then no sounds at all since main menu.
game volume level and windows volume level are maxd.
same bug with fallout 4, fallout new vegas (and EVERYTHING else) runs fine.
do i have to buy me some bethesda-speakers, or is there any fix?
please...
thank you

Open your windows sound settings and under 'app volume and device preferences' make sure there isn't anything onboard conflicting. Also make sure you select your sound sources and not just default. You'll need to do this tabbed out while the game is running. A lot of times updates will cause windows to revert to defaults because windows sucks like that.

JG is right.
After the 3/19/2024, 551.86 update.
Nvidia forced my rig to switch from RealTek audio to Nvidia High Definition audio.
Windows had issues with that...
Some intro's played, music.
But any real audio ingame or online was horrible.
My 2080Ti, Asus Maximus Z690 Hero was COMPROMISED!
I WAS pissed.
Headphone tests were fine.
But ingame only music played, NPC talk and other dynamic sounds sucked...
Even after all I tried as JG suggested.
It still was not normal.
I ended up in (Device Manager) under sound, removing all Nvidia audio.
Finally I have normal sound...

Thanks man, disabling the NVidia sound drivers actually did not solve my problem, but then when I also disabled the Razer sound driver out of desperation it DID, and I would not have even thought to try those if I had not read this post.

Your welcome.
It's a shame windows, nvidia, amd don't get along.
All this new tech for better high tech immersive sound.
When most of us don't have that.
Then all 3 don't work with each other.
Leaving us to SORT it out...
