Infinite Sign-in Fix (Worked For Me)
So i was plagued with the Infinite sign in after pressing any key to continue. i have been going back and forth with Bethesda support about this matter for days while still troubleshooting things on my end. and believe me when i say i have tried EVERYTHING under the sun to get 76 to work but nothing, UNTIL.

While browsing some forums i saw multiple people suggest signing into steam on your account from another PC or friends PC, loading up 76 and then going back to your own PC and you will sign in and be able to finally play.

While i don't have another PC to sign into i do however have the Steamdeck (guess you can see where i am going with this). I downloaded Fallout 76 onto my Steamdeck and booted up Fallout 76 and wouldn't you know it i was able to sign in and then was immediately hit with the EULA, accepted and was able to play.

I log out of my Steamdeck and hop back over to my PC and it fixed the issue for me. I wanted to come here and share this for anyone that may have another PC or a friends they can use or a Steamdeck cause it worked.

Not sure what you are getting at? there isn't anything that says you cant log in on your own account from another computer that i am aware of.

OK, update!

1. I signed in to Steam using my friend's account.
2. I started Fallout 76 from his Steam account......no problem.
3. I was able to confirm the Eula and create a character for him.
4. I quit the game and logged out of his Steam account.

Immediately afterwards, my friend logged in with his Steam account

1. He started the game full of hope.
2. He got to the point where you should click any button.
3. He waited patiently until the background image changed.
4. A window opens that says some nonsense about logging into Bethesda, including two buttons..... one "Info" and one "Exit". No matter what he presses, the game ends.

What is this ♥♥♥♥ from Bethesda?!?
You log in twice with the SAME Steam account and the SAME game is started both times!
From location A (in Germany) it works without any problems, from location B (also in Germany) it doesn't work?!?
And the cherry on top of it all is that BUGthesda support has no idea why or what!!!

Has he linked his Steam account to his Bethesda account? that could be the issue if he hasnt. I was really hoping for good news! not another bug, bummer.

Having similar issues and hoping this fixes it. Tired of it blacking out my monitor until i restart just because it's got infinite load issues.
EDIT: no such luck, still stuck on the initial loading screen before 'press any button' before it crashes completely and takes my comp with it.
bethesda, everyone.

I really hate they haven't resolved these issues. I definitely understand the frustration. Depending on how much patience you have left on trying to get it to work, just don't give
up.

Was really hoping to see poeple post that it worked for them. Which is why i shared it =( Hope you find a way to get it running like it should!

Thank you Thorin for your support.

Yes, he created an account at BUGthesda and linked it to his Steam profile.

However, I don't entirely agree with your assumption. If the link is the error, shouldn't the error have occurred in my case too?
After all, I started HIS game with HIS Steam account. In other words, with the Steam account that is linked to BUGthesda.

It would be interesting to know WHERE this link is located. The only explanation would be that this link would be stored somewhere in its local files, since I used MY local files when I started it.

I am not entirely sure to be fair. I do know that i had seen this on forums as another check in the box of things to troubleshoot. I've seen it suggested to un-link and then re-link your account as well. Just trying to throw out what troubleshooting ideas that i have seen and tried. Some PC's have the sign in issue and some don't. you got lucky and didn't have an issue where as your friends did.

I fully believe Bethesda doesn't know how to fix the issue themselves which is why this has been happening for as long as it has. When i told them how i resolved the issue for me they said "we are glad you found a workaround to this issue".

I really hope you find something that works. also i have seen where people verify their fallout 76 game files through steam and had Fallout 76 load normally after that too. From what i could tell that wasn't a common solution though but it doesn't hurt to try.

"Had the same issue. Solved it by installing Steam and Fallout 76 on a backup PC. Once I accepted the EULA on the backup, I was able to log in on the main. Tried everything else I could find through various search engines. Even opened a support ticket. The backup PC install is the only thing that worked. "

That quote up above was taken from another user here on the forums last year, March i believe. Instead of a PC i did it with my SteamDeck.

Im rooting for you, hopefully we will have some good news soon.

Just to clarify, is a Bethesda account mandatory to start the game? I can't remember if I have a Bethesda account.

This was taken Directly from the Bethesda support Page.

"Do I need a Bethesda.net account to play Fallout 76 on Steam?"

"Yes. When you launch the game through Steam for the first time, you will be prompted to log in using your Bethesda.net account details. You will then log into that account automatically the next time you launch the game."

https://help.bethesda.net/#en/answer/49541

the link up above takes you to the Bethesda support page where i got that quote from. I hope this helps!

Lies. You need to create an account on bethesda.net. The game is not going to prompt you to do so!!!!! Once you create an account there, link your steam account. Launch the game again and done. Tested it myself.
