Dropped item vanished?!
A Friend wanted to show me "The Fact Finder", a Main Quest Exclusive Reward, and dropped it for me to try it, and after trying it out I dropped it for him to pick it up and yet it just.. Vanished.. I dropped random stuff in hopes of the bag spawning it somewhere but it never appeared. The Gun just Vanished completely. And it was a Named one time Gun!

Had this dumb issue happen here and there and I have no idea how to retrieve the stuff again.

Clipping issues make this a hazard - always drop something replaceable first and shimmy side to side to make sure your drop bag appears beneath you.

Just standard clipping as I mentioned can have it fall through the floor or appear high in the sky - forever unreachable. That's least likely though.

Most likely it spawned on a higher or lower level if you're in an interior or have a tree above you - same for camps.

If you put it on a camp item it might move to the edge of your camp.

Well that's disappointing, hell, I even clipped under the map and still can't see the bag..
And knowing bethesda, they won't help with Quest Exclusive Reward Items, only Atom Shop stuff. :sadrandy:

dont worry too much about it; you can craft a look a like and you probably outgrow it with level aswell soon

If youre dropping stuff for a friend I recommend putting stuff an in empty container near by(suitcase, trashcan, etc) and they can loot it out of the container.

I do have a Level 50 spare of The Fact Finder revolver that i will never use. If your friend wants one back to replace the lost one i can help you out.

I lost a 2 star bloodied wep speed gat plasma like this. What I didn't realize was after dropping the item from my inventory, I would jump away. One time I looked up and saw my loot bag suspended in air, (so that's probably where my gat plasma ended up).

I think the best advice is to use an in world container to transfer the item, like a suitcase, as insert food here wrote. But if you do try to drop an item, don't jump, but take PotatoBasket's advice and slowly shimmy until you can see your loot bag..

Good Luck..

Always use the trading option. It´s basically the only way to make 100$ sure nothing happens.

Don´t bother with anything else. Don´t use lootable containers, those can bug aswell and someone could snatch it if you don´t pay attention. Dunno why people even suggest that when there is a much safer way.

I remember having the Fact Finder at low level. Then realising later on that item rewards scale with level. I was annoyed that I couldn't upgrade my old one or make a new one (cause they don't give you plans for it). Cause early on, it was a decent gun.

Yep, I have had many a great weapon and 1000 flux fall thru concrete floors. The only thing I drop on the ground or floor is spoiled carrots.

Generally drop trades should be done away from marked map locations. Old sneak bit that Chameleon is actually used for - sit nearby in stealth and grab the drop before the intended player can pick it up. It's not likely but yeah, there are a handful of players that will actively attempt this.

Always take note if you have someone shadowing you; most of us have good intentions, like keeping you alive, but 76ers are a Free People and all..

Yep. One even posted about it here after doing it to me gifting a rando 76er.
:steammocking: I think it was a bunch of Berserker's gear, to my recollection - essentially a pile of trash for a curious party. Waaaaaay more effort than reward, could literally play the game for better results. That's unfortunately the only way some people know how to have fun, though.
