"Buried Treasure" quest is broken
I sided with the raiders and in the vault 79, everytime someone gets knocked out by the turrets, they just stop moving and stare at me like maggots.

In the first section after blowing up the entrance, this maggot named johnny kept dying at the entrance by running into the turrets and he wouldn't move an inch after he dies.

I restarted the game and then did the same but this time cleared the turrets before these maggots could enter the vault.

After using the terminal and circuit breaker to open the next section, these maggots ran into 6 turrets and got obliterated by them and then they got revived somehow and now they won't even move nor respond.

I'm literally stuck in this quest and it's bugged to the core. The second someone goes down, they just stop responding.

What the hell is bethesda even doing? This is supposed to be the main storyline and they haven't even bothered to fix this major bug that renders this quest entirely useless if you side with the raiders?

What the hell am I even supposed to do now?

Finally completed the quest today.

Don't log out if they get stuck, just fast travel to Crater and then return to the vault, they should fast-forward to where ever it is they're supposed to be next. It worked for me at least, I hope it works for you.

Oh, we know. Even stout FO76 defenders will admit this quest is FUBAR.

On my main, I got stuck on when the dude was doing the terminal and they were perma stuck in the security room, he was kind of just stuck on a table corner or something. Restart, this time the Super Mutant walked back and forth in front of the scanner booth for 15 minutes before I just restarted. Then I got through it to run into the issue you ran into. 4th or 5th try worked.

Tried doing it with my wife last night (as helper) and she would get DC'd from server at various points in the quest and have to restart outside. She gave up and went to bed.

Yeah I guess I'll give up too because the rewards for this quest don't seem to be decent for me. Nothing important.

Leaving the area and coming back may fix the issue. Letting the NPCs talk and completely finish their conversations before you move on also seems to help.

Digging this post out of the grave, as I reached out to the Bethesda support team for a solution. It might just help a lost wanderer out there!
1 - Progress through the quest as usual, until you reach the bugged objective
2 - Return to the elevator that you enter the instance from
3 - Use the elevator to return to Appalachia
4 - After the loading screen, do NOT leave the elevator
5 - Use the elevator again, and return to the instance for Vault 79
Johnny will now be in the correct place and the quest should continue as intended.

It's not just Johnny at the vault entrance but the mutant and him in the laser room too become broken.

This quest is just bugged to the core
