Which backpack mod do you use?
I’ve already grinded for the high capacity mod but I’ve just discovered the chemist/grocer mod and wonder if one of them would be better. I use both traveling pharmacy and thru hiker and one of these mods could free up a perk slot for me. (I could also just not carry so much food and drugs.. but eh) What mod do you use?

your build needed agility so it's a bummer that thru hiker is the one you shouldn't ditch. you find way more food in the game than chems which are heavy as frak but easier to manage.

edit: if you do decide to ditch traveling pharmacy you can also free up pharma farmer in luck. You'll have to make the rounds to people's camps for stims but oh well.

Chemist/Grocer are both good - literal replacement of Traveling Pharmacy/Thru-Hiker. Either of these can free up 3 points in STR or AGI, depending on your build/preference.

High-capacity? Eeeeehh... Just extra 60 carry weight is not THAT big of a deal, when you'd rather actually decrease the weight of items instead - be it meds or food - thus giving you more carry weight... technically.

In my build, I have Thru-Hiker, which is why I run Chemist backpack, to free up 3 STR points.

I use high capacity. I don't carry anywhere near enough chems or food for the other mods to provide anywhere as close a benefit (you need to carry about 67 weight worth of chems or food/drink for the respective mods to overtake high capacity).

Well, with every single event giving you a tonn of stimpacks for free and my build using exclusively Diluted versions anyway... (which means 1 stimpack = 4 diluted or more, if Super Duper triggers)

I really do be needing that Chemist backpack... XD Even if I barely ever actually use them and keep on dropping to newbies or using up at robot vendors for them daily caps.

Chemist Backpack. Look at weight in pipboy, bring up the perk cards, take the card in question off, look at weight in pipboy. Watch out the weight of Nuka-Cola, they weigh 1lb.

Depends on build, really.

Paradoxically, my 2 support characters (Field Medic etc) use "Grocer's", simply because I have enough STR for the 3 star "Pharmacist" always left over.

Most of the others use "Chemist's", except full power armor builds who kind of need both the food and chem cards because power armor removes backpack bonuses.

I don't use any of the Tadpole grind mods because ♥♥♥♥ that noise, though I'm working casually on those for my 2nd supporter to get the high capacity probably because again, enough perk slots to have both chems and foods reduced.

And almost everything else as well at that too like "Bandolier" / "Batteries Included" + weapon weight reduction cards where applicable or needed (not useful if you only run one gun, very useful if you lug around like 3 or 4 heavies), everything according to build actually except "Pack Rat" which I have never found useful due to how easy it is to keep junk broken down once you know where the workbenches are and you either don't want to keep masses of scrap on hand or in your stash (no F1st) or F2st tents and scrapboxes are easy enough to access.

And yes, having legendary SPECIAL cards ranked up helps immensely obviously, I always try to have at least 2 or 3 to fill out those convenient values I don't need for the build but want to have for extras like weight reduction perks.

Backpack mods are nice, but you should really know what you want for your build before spending the bullion / grind the badges and again if you heavily rely on power armor (like you wear it more than you don't) it's pretty much pointless.

I know some people carried around a ton of stims, but damn, that's more than a few. Figures you'd want one of the reduction mods then. I just can't relate - my build only needs a stim every couple of hours, when stealth decides to break with some big threats around.

The dumbest part is that I don't really use them all that much either. That's why I have THAT many - every single event hands out regular stimpacks, while I just convert them to Diluted... and never really use all that much. And still have a lot of em after handing out 25-50 to every single random low level player I encounter or use up to max out daily vendor caps. Guess I'm just lucky with how much Super Duper triggers during crafting of Diluted lol.

Grocery. Have lots of food stuff that I'll never use except for dailies or weeklies but keep anyways.
AlexSledge May 13, 2024 @ 3:50am
I use chemists & still throw lots of chems & tons food in donation boxes or on the ground. If I don't pay attention I'll still end up with 150 super stim packs that I never get around to using.

When you start running vampire's weapons, stimpak use drops way off.

The ... err chemnist i think, the one that decreaes the weight of medic stuff. Alltough im a PA user but that backpack still allowes me to run when im not in it lol .... thinking about that i should really get rid of alot of them, dunno why im walking around with 300stims and like 200 drugs.
