is the gauss minigun worth?
im currently lvl 80 and using a (half baked) bloodied build im currently half way allied with the raiders and the gauss minigun sounds enticing, i have grenadier at 2 and an explosive laser minigun sounds pretty darn good, only one problem ive heard its pretty ammo hungry and i only have ammo factory at 2, should i invest in the gauss minigun? i do have the gold bullion required for the plans and the mods

The literal only bad thing about the Gauss Minigun doesn't even have anything to do with the weapon itself.
Which is the contextual 2mm ammo drops not being adjusted to but rather the other Gauss weaponry.
It's a great weapon in itself.

Soooooo... Only a handful of weapons are affected, not the whole Explosive modifier, eh? Gauss Minigun just happens to be one of the affected ones, eh?

Primarily elemental effects (cryo, pyro, poison, plasma, electric, and tesla), the 2-star explosive secondary effect and the Gauss effect.

Also included in the change is: Electrically Charged mutation, Auto-axe Electrified mod and Mr Handy Buzz Blade Electrified modbeing changed from "Electric" to "Energy". This was likely due to electrical resist armor / creatures being non-existent in game, and the new Storm boss’s immunity to electrical damage.

All mods for melee weapons with the name “Electrified” have been buffed, providing a bonus base Energy damage equivalent to the weapon’s base Physical damage including: Assaultron Blade, Baton, Chinese Officer Sword, Revolutionary Sword, Sheepsquatch staff and club, Shepherd’s Crook and Mr Handy Buzz Blade.

I take it they totally did not account for Frag Mirvs, then?

MIRV's frags are not effected, to my knowledge.

You just saved the devs a lot of vitriol and the forum from an angry spuddy rampage of nerf hatred. Kudos.

*Still pissy though. Bows seriously don't need nerfing; maybe reducing the blast extension perk card by 33% would be appropriate since that would affect things like players using the Westek exploit. All this is is yet another snub to the player base and game function. I see no improvement it will bring about except further narrowing power-choices for builds and limiting players. Bad.

Add more to balance or just freaking stop. Add small amounts. Even the most basic MF cook knows you can't take it away once you add it; you're better off throwing it in the trash and starting over.

Atrocious is a more appropriate word for their nerf-policy.

I wonder if, in case of the Gauss Minigun, it's better to just ignore the explosive damage nerf or just prime the thing instead of using tesla mods.
virpyre 13 MAY 2024 a las 9:24 a. m.
Yes, prime gives you a better ammo yield. 100%. The trick is to play Daily Ops/Expeditions with a Gauss Rifle or Shotgun to farm ammo. Then you can go ham with Minigun (while supplies last).

Ok, but what about... The Cremator? That one too..? Since it's fire damage (pyro?) and all that. Or it's different?

Ok, but what about... The Cremator? That one too..? Since it's fire damage (pyro?) and all that. Or it's different?

The Cremator was already changed with the last patch a few weeks ago. . .

Cremator Rebalance (summary):
  • Heavy barrel is 67% stronger than before (60 to 100); still increases base damage directly (that means double damage on all projectile attacks)

  • Slowburner is 100% stronger damage/sec (40 to 80). This is 60% stronger than the base burn and for 100% longer duration = greater than 320% total damage vs base burn.

  • Explosion is nerfed by some build dependent value, up to 80% or so (before Demo expert/expl bobblehead) from 100% projectile damage to a flat 20 damage (before damage bonuses) per explosion. These are still multiplying by # projectiles, e.g. via double-/multi-shot barrels.

  • Ammo cost reduced by 33% (15 to 10)

  • Double-shot barrel adds 40 base Fire damage

Nah, the recent change I know. I mean in the future, in the upcoming update. Any more changes or nerfs?

At the moment NO, but this also just part 1 of the Skyline patch.

Thanks again for the info, Virpyre. My eyesight isn't what it was, apologies for the typo on your handle.

Nerfs sucks but it's still Appalachia.
C'mon Donny, let's go blast some green dudes :VBCOOL:

Gauss weapons always had their own explosive code that did 15% damage compared to the legendary effects 20%. They shouldn't have been affected... but this is Bugthesda we are talking about...
climbingeastofwinter 13 MAY 2024 a las 1:23 p. m.
Gauss Minigun is ammo hungry but if you can manage your ammunition then its a good tool. Holy Fire is also a pretty solid heavy weapon as it drops naturally with a cursed bonus and 3 very usable legendary stars, and fuel contextual drops will keep it running perpetually with a full health lazy build. If you go bloodied it's even better.

Until you get either of those, a .50 Cal or a standard flamer (with napalm tank mod) should work fine, or as others have suggested, the cremator is extremely effective and ammo efficient, especially with slow burning fuel.

There is a set of something like 20 ammo containers you can loot from Vault 76, west down the drive to the military checkpoint at the gate of the parking lot, then back to the bus, over to the edge of the fence away from the bus/gate, further out to a crashed jeep, west to a tent, then something like south to the brotherhood camp. After that you can enter the Atlantic City - Flooded City expedition and have another ~8 ammo containers leading to the place Mayor Tim is holed up, 2 more inside on the right, and another 2-4 if you're willing to explore a bit and kill some overgrown on the way to the mission building. If you're having serious ammo shortages, that run is maybe 5 minutes and has something like 30-35 ammo boxes you can loot, so as long as you're willing to scavenge a bit you're never really going to be out of options.

Well it is one of the Biggest weapons in 76 so even if they Nerf all weapons down to nothing it would be better than a Big stick. 200 pounds of Metal to the Head is better than a size 11 Boot.

All the miniguns need a damage buff.

It's worth it yes, but have also heard that the explosive effects are getting nerfed in June.

Oh i hope they nerf the cremator aswell. When i came back it was so nice, barley any one shotters at events. Now everyone and their grandmother uses that freaking thing and on top of one shotting everything the graphic pollution is awful.
