Rifleman + Sneak + Crit build
Is it Viable? Seems like any time I join a Public Event and try to do my sneaky business, always [Danger] and never getting sneak attack bonuses. Fully shadowed gear, sneak perks fully setup, chameleon when sneaking, etc... Seems like no matter how much I invest into it, the only thing this build is decent for is solo-play adventuring. Any tips?

Stealth is hit or miss in events (the other players cause issues), and apparently impossible in daily ops.

Many public events cause stealth to break to varying degrees - Something it's just saying you're in danger when you're not, sometimes it's permanent detection once you get detected for the first time, even if there are no alive enemies, sometimes it's no stealth allowed at all.

Regardless, stealth+crit builds are still very viable in public events even when they go wrong, because you still have crits. You just need to use evasion techniques and/or survival perks to survive instead of relying on stealth.

I play mainly as a Stealth-Sniper build but that's my "Sole/Exploration" setup. For public events I use a standard Heavy Weapon Power Armor build. I'm fairly new to the game but I learned quickly that stealth attacks don't work in Events. I've got some spare atoms so I;m thinking of trying a Power Armor Commando build for events but so far the PA Hvy Weapon thing is holding it's own.

I don't seem to have too many issues with events with my stealth commando. Daily ops are a no go but events seem to work just fine. Yes stealth can break at random but i do not see it very often to annoy me.

Yeah but at that point its not a stealth build, now your just a crit build with a large chunk of points wasted on AGI and its perks. I guess at a certain point Im just feeling discouraged about the build and wanna vent but also wanna hear other peoples take on it. So far not much different from mine.

This is precisely what I'm trying to avoid. I love the gauss rifle, lever action, hunting rifle, handmade, etc... And seeing EVERY SINGLE PERSON at the event using the same heavy weapon + PA setup and completely outclass me in damn near every way is what drove me to the discussion boards. You dont see pistol builds, VERY RARELY see a commando/rifleman build... Every time I play its just heavy builds everywhere and I refuse to be that guy xD

Way off topic but I love cars and do the same thing in real life with those, everyone here in detroit drives fancy dodges and cadillacs. I love to see the look on peoples faces when they cant keep up with my little ol 2005 grand prix (Heavily modified)

so what I'm getting at here is I like taking something most people dont care for and MAKING them care for it lmao (More or less)

I wish I could say the same. I'm glad theres someone it works for though!

decryption shouldnt have stealth piercing enemies. theres a perk where enemies forget you if you leave their detection range, it might work now.

I main it and I love it to death. When I use my AA+50%crit gauss rifle during boss fights I'm actually one of the heavier hitters during boss fights, I just have little-to-no ROF.

Its a good build. Tried it but I prefered full auto more, since its better on bosses.

Heavy Build just takes the least effort for a large amount of DPS. You'll see it more with newbies because it's easy.

Stealth Commando is still top dog, just takes more effort to get the correct gear.

It's the only viable way to use ballistic weapons, besides bloody builds.
But you need fair amount of setup before you get consistent value.
As for the end-game content, it provides much less value. Get plasma flamer if you need dps for multiplayer content.

Yeah OP that can be meta if you want.

Camping and crashing events was an old troll for some that used the build, though, so sneaking at events is out.

I totally get where you're coming from and I also don't really care for meta or min/max builds but for events, which I consider completely separate from the game (I see it more as a means to an end), I've decided to just go with the flow. In FO76 my personal end-game meta is to get every plan there is so I can do solo content as I see fit. If I have to do events as a boring Hvy Weapon PA build so be it. Also, it's sometimes fun to just storm into a mission like some crazed BoS Knight going head first into the breach.
