Best way to get weapon/armour mods for a beginner.

So i've decided to give FO76 a third chance and i'm wondering how do i go about getting mods without spending a buttload of caps. (curse you priced fast travel.)

you get mod plans for weapons and armor by scrapping them for the most part. Do an event with lots of enemies like Eviction Notice for example and scrap all the weapons you get.

Okay, normally i horde weapons/armours and then sell them. I should be scrapping them instead. Also how do i go about doing events when i'm normally by my self.

Events typically aren't meant to be soloed though they can be with a powerful build. I'd suggest keeping an eye out when events pop and try to pick ones that have participants in them and or join an events team.
If you want to solo events you'll most likely want some variation of an explosive commando/tank build so you can either kill large amounts of enemies or tank bosses, though the big event bosses like the wendigo colossus, scorchbeast queen, and ultracite titan are very difficult to solo in a timely manner.

Only the ones you would actually use I guess, you can always loot them in the world or get them from daily/event rewards.
