I have a problem with old wallpapers.

So this season I picked up new wallpapers and repainted the walls, but after some thought I wanted to go back to the old wallpapers I was using, but I was surprised that they were not available in the construction option. They're gone. Is it just me that they are no longer available?

For some reason those wallpapers have been removed from the build menu and cannot be placed if you change a wall.

^ that dude pays attention and has full mental faculties, unlike some of us more spuddy visitors. I'd bet that's as accurate an answer you'll find OP. In my experience most of the stuff like skins that has been disabled has been temporary - and I have it pop up again later as a pleasant surprise.

Yeah this sucks especially if those items were purchased with sub-bought atoms, but if they disabled them their design is likely flawed or even possibly tied to exploits. Having them take them down to fix it is the optimal solution. Thank the Techs, as it were

If it's that much of a bummer for you OP, open a ticket with them. They'll be able to tell you when the items might return (when they have a moment free to respond) or even look back to see what atoms you spent on them.

Even more weird:

Today I was able to place all the wallpapers but I only own like 7.

Usually they are locked and have the red atom symbol, today they were all yellow and available.

This has happened several times before, and I'm 100% certain I don't own the ones I was allowed to place.

Server wonkiness maybe? Atom store not / badly synched to the server instance?

OP, have you tried changing servers or something?

I immediately scrapped it, verified files, and then logged back in with no repeat issues. That was not wallpaper (fits your description perfectly, otherwise), but I'm guessing it's this season's fun new bug (One of two along with wall-gun-barrel that's now affecting more players... what is it called colloquially?)

I have had some things disappear from my build menu
many times in the past few months if I had build that item in shelter or a different camp by storing them and replacing them I could again build them but of course that would not likely work with wall papers
