There are perks that increase how much food and drink satisfies, and you can improve the buff for being satiated.
Plus food, drink, alcohol, and chems have their own 'buff slots' as well.
Most people are herbivores and build a farm at their camp. Turbofert grendade makes microfarm viable and preferred.
Carnivores have it a bit harder, but not really. theres a luck perk that gives you random meat every time you use a stim - combine with low health and Born Survivor you get automatic free meat. Add Good with Salt to make the food last longer, eventually invest in the fridge.
I haven't had to cook food in ages.
Anyway, lunch.
I feel like you're the "Ooh, what does this do?" guy in most survival situations. Pick up random bottle of liquid? *sip* Pick up random herb or flower? *takes a bite* I'm putting you on my list of people I want with me when the apocalypse happens, so I have someone to find out for me what all the new stuff does before I ingest it.
i dont want to care about spoilage and weight. im sure there are better foods... idc :)
The cake was a reward for challenges completed during the birthday promo and as far as I'm aware, no longer available. The steamer is uh.. hang on, let me check. *toddles away to google*
*returns shortly after* The steamer was an atomic shop purchase, cost 500 atoms. I don't know if it's still on the shop or not, you'd have to check.
Edited to add: Sometimes I list the cake slices and stuff from the steamer on my vendor for 1 cap each, just to get rid of them if I have a surplus. So it might be worth checking peoples' vendors while you're wandering about the Wasteland.
To answer your question, I always go hunting for radstags and/or brahmin once a week since their cooked meat gives me additional carry weight in addition to filling up my Hunger. As for Thirst, I have five water purifiers at my base giving my endless supply; you can go with only one, I just have five since I also like to sell purified water for some quick caps.
"better" is subjective. if all you care about is not constantly hearing the growling tummy and drippy water sound, all food is created equal.
