How does selling and other things work?
I've been playing for a while now and I've made the vendor machine but it says "it sells everything stuff from my stash box." Which I don't really want... I have seen videos of others talking about "how to make the most/more caps" which for me right now is garbage videos (for me at least) and not what I'm after. I don't need caps... just want to know how to set up vending machines etc to where it'll only sell specific items that I want it to sell. Do I need some specific BP for stuff like that or does it not work like that. Kinda also hating on the storage box limit as from what I know is based off of "weight" with all of your containers. If there is a way to "separate" your items so one container has this item(s) and this container has that items(s) please let me know cause good god its ridiculous. Also yes I know you can just drop stuff and it'll turn into a bag, throw stuff into the in world game containers so others can take them for themselves, turn things into bulk to sell etc.
If anyone has any videos, links, etc on this topic please post them below or just let me know here. Thanks to anyone who responds and helps out as I also hope this will help newer players like me.

You put items into the vending machine to sell, it doesn't just sell everything in your stash. The items you are selling are just stored in the stash until they are sold, like every other camp item that acts as "storage" (it all links to the stash, even if they have their own storage limits).

Basically, you interact with the machine, it lets you put in items (or take them out), and when you put them in, it lets you set the price of that item. Other players come along, buy that item for the price you set, then you get 90% of the caps they spent.

where can you find the vending machines please?

In the camp build menu, vendors tab.

If you are going to build a vendor and sell stuff, you need to make sure your camp icon is turned on. The default is off which means that only you or teammates can see it.

In the stash it shows different icons for different items. Ones in the vendor will have a pricetag ones on display will have another icon.

After messing around with it I've learnt a few things. You make the vending machine and attach a power + wire to it so it turns on. You have to do as "LT2483" said so you put your items from your inventory into the vending machine to sell and if you have stuff in your stash box you wanna sell you would just have to take out the items and put them back in from the vending machine and the price to sell them will show up. It still kinda sucks that it still goes into your stash box so it is still taking up space until someone decides to buy stuff or if you toss them out yourself. And yes there are icons showing you what items are being sold so you know just as "Tactician" said. BizzarreMan I am going to have to look into that so other players know i have stuff to sell. YounG_5p00ks I have no idea on that nor do I remember if I found a BP for it. Gotta say though I am assuming that if I make a cooler to slow down the timer for foods turning rotten it will also be using that same storage as all of the other containers? I will test that out anyways whenever I can find the BP for it but i have learned that this is not a good game for loot hoarders such as myself. lol
Thanks again to everyone who responded and I also hope this brings some clarity on how the vending machines work. I still don't like it but I guess it is what it is :mhwgood:

It’s important to put your camp in an area where people are going to travel through whether it be questing or just exploring. Close to vault 76 has done me good as I have set up near the bridge and players just keep walking by buying stuff.

People who say that others aren’t buying could be any number of reason so just do the best you can to make it easy for people to buy from you and viola they will.

Totally agree on that. And I am already considering about moving my base although I kind of like the random enemies showing up near my base to kill whenever I drop by
