.38 ammo lack of availability
for every mob i kill, i get approx 3-5 ammo. for anyone who has used .38 ammo in game, you know this is far from any form of sustainable.

any tips or tricks or changes incoming that might make it so i do not have to use other weapons to farm ammo to use in the exchanger to get my coveted .38 ammo?

thanks

For other ammo later, get gunsmith and super duper perk, ammo factory legendary perk later if you want even more ammo. Get steel from West Tek research center, by scraping super mutants weapons. Use scrapper perk for more steel. For lead, go to lucky hole mine its like 500 lead there. Some areas are hidden by hanging vegatations. For cloth, do the airport mission you get around 100 prewar money by completing it. For acid, go to Tangara town. There are alot of cave crickets there and they drop acid.

For ultracite ammo, do daily ops and expeditions to get more ammo. Also work great for normal ammo.

Um, I dunno about that video, that assumes you have master infiltrator and someone high level sherpa'ing you around.

Not to mention it sorta defeats the purpose when you're burning up the same ammo just to loot ammo, as I see some enemies still attacking.

For new players; your best bet is to focus first on upgrading the best pipe gun you can; .308 ammo is EVERYWHERE and constant. This is until you can work up to crafting your own ammo...
... which is a whole 'nother process in itself as it requires a constant supply of lead (and other base materials, but tons of lead.) which means using an extractor and emptying it frequently in your camp.

Pipe guns in general are pretty mediocre but the ammo is insanely abundant. You'd think being that we are in the USA we'd find 5.56... it's actually the rarest ammo for some strange reason.
Scrap guns constantly and you'll unlock mods for the various types; the big thing will be getting an automatic receiver on a pipe gun so you can just spray all of that abundant ammo.

Also it's important to know that boxes & enemies when you have your weapon that you want ammo for out / killing with, is what generates the ammo type. It's not much however.

Lastly; single shot weapons tend to do more damage versus automatic; that's the trade-off really, so you also might want to focus on being precise and hitting hard.

Hope that helps some.

".308 ammo"

not .38 ammo. See the zero there?

Well, in the video you can see the first route is around Vault 76, you can fast travel back there for free, enemies are rather weak, several Ammo Boxes and Duffle Bags to simply loot, only Perk i'd recommend would be Scrounger on max. Rank.

I have a level 45 Plasma Rifle with the Flamer Barrel, spend 20 Ammo on that route, collected 200 from a few boxes, most of them were empty, otherwise i'd probably have gotten much more...

Anyway, i'm currently carrying around 4k Ammo for my Plasma Rifle, only problem i have is against bosses, since those eat more Ammo then they give back.
