Can't tab into the game/do anything if set to fullscreen?

I hope this isn't a redundant post (I didn't see anything) but I physically can't play in fullscreen. I have to use borderless otherwise the game will just turn my monitor black and kick me back to my desktop while still in the background. Is there a way to fix this? Because I know damn well it'd run better if I could fix it.

Have you checked the resolution that the game loads up into in fullscreen? If you have multiple monitors games have a tendency to assume that its all one big monitor vs two separate ones. So if you can set to full screen and find your config file in documents/my games/fallout 76 and see what that says.

It's just 1920x1080 and I only have one monitor.

If you alt tab alot, then play in borderless windowmode. It got a high chance to crash or bug if you alt tab in fullscreen. The map gets bugged if you alt tab in full screen in 4k. Was putting up a bug report for it years ago, but players just shrug it off and told me to play in borderless window mode instead.

when i alt tab back in i just left click once or twice on the black screen and it works

I'm not alt tabbing, I can't even TAB IN to begin with. The game window just kicks me back to the desktop.

Ever since the new season this game has finished every session leaving all of my other windows maximized. It's a pain in the rear.

Did you ever find a solution? I've been playing perfectly fine in full screen until literally this afternoon when it's doing exactly what you are describing now. It immediately minimizes and I can't get back to the game. If I restore it, it will flash up on the start screen for a split second, then minimize again.

I just dealt with fullscreen borderless sadly.
