bethesda account, worst experience... I give up
I had already F76 bought at the time at release...

Decided to give another try after all this years....
And I find (after a lot of searching) that there isn't anymore F76 to download from bethesda (okey, fine... even better.... I prefer steam).... but....

.. but....
I can login in bethesda, but can't link steam as bethesda (not steam) give a generic error...
After more digging there's FAQ in a FAQ in a subpage that says that it "could" be that account is already linked (from bethesda or steam side) to another account....

on bethesda site linked account page is _empty_ .... I can select only add linked account.
And can't know what bethesda this my steam account is linked to....

in another FAQ (other time spent).... it's written to use email used on steam to recover account that could had been auto generated.... and linked.... so to login to that and unlink and link the other one....

but bethesda refuse to send mail.... or may be there isn't a linked auto generated account anyway....

Copypasta from previous times I have posted this.

At some point in time, you created a bethesda account, possibly by using the creation club, or some other bethesda game. When asked, you gave it one of your throw away email addresses, or just made one up “because why do I ever need this account”.

And when you play 76 it gives you a random display name that has an adjective + noun + random numbers.

You can try logging into Bethesda.net using your old email addresses. You will need to have it send a password reset. If none of your old email addresses work there is still hope.

To fix it do the following.

Step 1). In the steam store, find Doom 64. It’s cheap, sometimes free.
Step 2). Buy and install the install it.
Step 3). Load the game.
Step 4). Once inside the game, you will see an option for “bethesda.net.”
Step 5). Chose that option. It will show you the email address that was used to link Steam and Bethesda.
step 6). If you still have access to that address, you can then log in to Bethesda.net with that email address. It will probably require you to reset the password.
Step 7). You can now use that account to modify the display name etc.
Step 8). Refund Doom 64 because you have played it less than two hours.

If you do not have access to that email address anymore, then you will need to submit a support ticket and they can walk you through things.

Only times this has not worked is when the person didn’t have access to the email account anymore, or, when they input the email address they fat fingered something. One guy here had put in #gmail.com instead of @gmail.com. That required Bethesda’s assistance.

I can login on bethesda site and I see my F76 purchase....
What doesn't work is linking

Right, because your steam is linked somewhere else.

You need to find the beth account already linked to your steam account. You can then unlink that and link to the correct account.

Sorry but what you've said here is false and I've reported it.

Either functions correctly on purchase or I will refund it and I don't care which.
