Armor Breaks Too Easy/Too Hard To Repair
Am I the only one running around most of the time with half their armor broken? I know I can repair at a workbench but I seem to never have the ballistic fiber required for how often armor breaks. I swear I repair it and it breaks in the very next fight. Is this their way of getting you to spend atoms on repair kits?

Get white knight perk.

The problem is, you are using armor that requires ballistic fiber. Thats not a common resource.

There is a perk that reduces the rate at which armor breaks and reduces the repair cost (White Knight). There is another perk (Fix It Good) that lets you repair a piece of armor to more than 100%, so you need to repair less often. They don't have to be in you active perks all the time (White Knight does if you want its effect of slowing down the durability damage), so you can just switch out some perks when you want to repair things.

You should not buy repair kits. You can get those as a reward from some of the events, and those are actually better than the ones you can buy.

Armor is hurt when you get hit. Get hit less, repair it less. Past that it's just about maximizing your value for repairs, like you need the White Knight perk.

Do you know off the top of your head which armor doesn't require Ballistic Fiber? Right now pretty much every piece of armor I find is fibers for repairs.

the best armors tend to use it but there are plenty of weaker armor like raider gear and wooden armor that shouldn't.

Early game armour has lower durability, and if you run out in the open you will draw fire and repair more often. Once you get the perk you can overrepair armour and it will last better, getting stealthy and picking off enemies you will repair less. Power armour can take more hits with less repair needed. Kill quick is best, so many new players are using single shot weapons at events the mobs build up and swarm.

I'm going to go ahead and assume you're still fairly new to the game. This gets less of a chore as time goes on. When you get to the lifer stage, you're making your own armor and with a good intelligence score, it'll have way more durability than what you find. Then there's repair kits. As you get more world boss kills under your belts and scoreboard rewards combined with the better durability of hand made armor, you'll start to build up a supply of repair kits and rarely have to actually repair your gear with materials.

I'm level 70 so I dunno if I'd be considered low level, but I'm definitely not kitted out. Just whatever level 50 stuff I could craft/find but it does all use them damn fibers. I'm running a Railway Commando but I find stuff very bullet spongy so avoiding hits altogether is hard for me. I've also read that 50-100 is the most awkward stage of the game. Aside from bullet sponge mobs, the broken armor seems to be my biggest struggle in this game. Still fun tho!

It's all about maximizing your potential, enemies seem like bullet sponges until you get a decent weapon and loadout and then they die asap. I run a shotgun build most of the time and plenty of enemies die in a single blast from a cold shoulder to the head. That's not even a "meta" build, show up to events and watch how fast the veteran players absolutely melt enemies.

It really is all about perks if you're not taking advantage of them for things like this yet. White Knight + Fix It Good can easily quadruple or more your efficiency on armor.

I just checked and I have a mix of Combat Armor, Marine Armor, and Leather Armor....all of which use fibers haha.

Yea I definitely need to start swapping builds before I repair for the little boost. Ghouls and stuff die in like 2-3 headshots which isn't bad, but Snallygaster or whatever, Gulpers, Mutants seem to take forever, and I just run if I see a Scorchbeast lol!

Just kill things quicker. If you care about your armor, invest in stealth gameplay. It's better for your gun durability and also armor, since there is no trades to be. Untill you get a gun that let's you steamroll most content, stealth is the best resource saving style.

You can buy bulk ballistic fiber at almost any vendor station. Play the game and earn some caps. The game is already super easy and asking for armor to be indestructible is totally silly.

Thanks, now I know what to spend some of these caps on.
No idea about your level mate but if you are a new player? Ignore repairing armor and just use whatever you found.

If you are not a new player i recommended you farm a bit for Ballistic Fiber, it's easy to get and you can buy (depends on how many caps you have) tons of those in Whitespring.

If you do World Bosses? you get a chance to get improved repair kits which helps ofc.
