When crafting and it shsows you need 4/8 screws. Press R to highlight screws. Junk that has screws are easily to find then.
The little fans are everywhere to find

mark it on your pipboy, or lookup screw farm but stuff like fans, typewritters, etc. screws are super easy to get, you better remember what stuff junk gives so you dont waste your time scrapping things that only give steel, its a waste of time and space
There's a particular end-game fight where additional monsters spawn regularly to attack players in a cage match. The monsters drop ~4 screws each. After 15 minutes each player involved can walk out with like 300 screws.

Try Sugar Grove, It has a good enough amount of desk fans from what I saw and a couple of antique globes that will give you the screws and a room on the 2nd floor in the last area to scrap it all protected by 3 mister gutsy's.

Use that area for farming it.
I agree with that.

while exploring : look up for item like phone , typewritter , toaster and such they all give screw

farming : farm super mutant , since they all have some '' loose screws'' aka they are nuts , they drop screws ( thats some bethesda joke i know ! ) HunterVille is a good place to farm them , just server hop for infinite spawn.

having the scrapper card before scrapping everything help in getting more mats , also having high intelligence help too.

sadly if you die during trying to get out of earles cave your loot bag stays inside, similar to the lode baring event imo. was that fixed?

I got like 500+ for 5caps a piece in my Vendor as of now... but no one is buying them because there is only a few of low level players in every server, even if i try server hopping i still get thrown with just 5 - 6 low level players.

How's your luck stat? I've noticed that luck definitely seems to affect my ability to find cool things.

Typewriters and desk fans are your best friend. Along with hotplates, and toy cars and trucks.

In 40 hours, you never came a cross a set of loose screws, a fan or a typewriter?
Toy trucks, toy cars, Hotplates?

Weird.

not super common to find randomly

the cheapest and easiest way to 'mass' screws is to take workshops, they are one of the common drops in 8-20 packs

next is wendigos who 'have a screw loose' and always drop screws
which makes earle a fantastic screw farm
