Overgrown

How do I deal with the overgrown? My guns and armor at at my level, but they just tank all my rounds while near 2-tapping me. I obviously need to kill the flying testies otherwise everything else is otherwise invincible, but when you have 3 invincible guys with rpgs constantly shooting at you, the testies soak up more dps then a discord mod soaking up soda (I've dumped at least 1k .308 rounds into them using my lvl 40 lmg, as a lvl 44, only killed 2 of them), and there are 4 flying testies that run at the slightest amount of dmg its literally impossible to do anything when they are around, let alone that one mission where you need to kill their leader which is an invincible overgrown with a rpg that shoots faster than a german mg3.

It's awful game design, might as well face me up against 12 liberty primes with only a wooden bat.

Kill with fire, other than that at low level try and use suppressed weapon from stealth and pick off one by one. Much more damage in stealth, Commando with suppressed / perforating automatic fixer or similar is good. In power armour though fire...one thing I notice with new players at events is they stand out in the open with single shot weapons and do little damage while taking damage from all angles. Try and have an obstacle block some of the mobs.

So, I'm having a problem where I will get the Overgrown Elder health down to almost half in less than 10 seconds using the LMG .308, but once it's around half health, they instantly get 100 health back... I have used up all my grenades and most of my 999+ .308 ammo ... is this a glitch?

idk, check wether a floater is nearby and kill it first, the bugged ones have the shield icon i guess. but what with bugs and so on who is to say-sry encountered something similar myself.

If you are referring to the Tax Evasion expedition, you either need teammates or a powerful build to solo, mainly because of the horde fight at the beginning. This is an MMO, not Fallout 4, and tough horde fights are a staple. In single-player games you don't often need to spec for hordes, but in this type of game you have to if you want to play any content other than those one-and-done main quests and side quests.. With a proper build you can handle hordes of enemies with efficiency and alacrity as shown below. Note all enemies die in a second or less. Note how fast my AP regenerates at the lower right corner (it regens from zero to full in 2 seconds). You have get gud like dat to go to horde fights:

It is not a glitch, but it means there is a floater nearby who heals him. You either need to lure the Elder further away from the floater or kill the floater first.

I mean, obviously "don't get hit" is a key part of facing an enemy that kills in 2 hits...

I kill them in 2-3 hits with my unarmed character using armor piercing power fist. Most things die quickly to that.

But I die pretty quick too because fallout is bias against unarmed combatants wearing power armor :(

I will also note that most enemies stop using ranged weapons if you engage them in melee range. Definitely an exploit in their combat mechanics. You just get close enough and even if they have superior ranged weapons, they switch to melee (which is often similar in deadly ness, but if you can't survive their ranged, perhaps melee is better).

Overgrown suck. Overgrown + floater healers = more suck. Overgrown using rocket launchers = the world doesn't make sense anymore.

I went back a second time and found the remaining floaters - I thought I had killed them all, but I had missed a whole room. I also found the Short Flamer on this run and it helped a ton. Thanks!

Swamp Floaters love Worms- I throw a few big Worms and then add a good shot of flame to them.

hey guys am newb but on my first expedition the Overgrowns were invincible, I read that flamers or holy flame was good but I had none available so I found a Revolutionary Sword with legendary mod against mutants and it kills them with only 2 swipes haha

Overgrown are extra susceptible to fire and burn like dry toilet paper.
There is a flamer to grab in the basement of the casino.

The flame nozzle mod for the plasma gun is amazing! Eats through dura tho.

As a melee build, I tend to just... melee them. They die pretty easily. No matter my build, be it 2-handed, gauntlets, heavy guns, or even rifles, they die pretty easily. They're designed to be tankier than normal, but if you're being 2-shot, you might need to look at your build. If you have sub-par armor, for example. The 'light' variants of armor are wholly unusable on Expeditions. I use the Civil Engineer set (you get it from a questline you unlock by finding the Rose Room), but things like Marine Armor, the Heavy Combat armor, Botsmith aromr, etc, will do just fine. That, or invest in a Power Armor build.
