There's heaps of money in crossplatform. It leverages the power of the peer group as friends on different platforms keep each other playing longer.
The problem with FO76 is the games on each platform are significantly different. I'm not 100% sure but I think the consoles are actually easier with a different balancing. That limits crossplay ability.
For crossplay to work the game would have to first run the same version on all platforms, much like Warframe has done.
