Have you visit the power plant already,
claim it,
put the fusion core (outside) to work and farm for actual CORES for the suit?
HAVE YOU DONE IT SON?
IT'S GONNA TAKE YOU A WHILE
WELCOME TO FALLOUT 76
After trying a couple things, I suspected that the fusion cores themselves were bugged.
I took all of my fusion cores (including the one in the suit) and dropped them on the ground at same time. When bag appeared, i picked them back up and they worked again.
Edit: For clarification, when this bug happened, the suit looked like the fusion core slot was empty in third person view and couldn't put a new one in.

Hey man thanks a bunch for this, it worked. The issue I had was I had 27 100% fusion cores and whenever I tried to get into the suit with a fresh core when the old one was almost dead it would start the animation of placing a new core in for a nano second then cancel it. What fixed it for me was placing my armour, dropping the cores, getting into the armour with no cores and picking them back up.
Also beware, what I think caused it for me was I picked up my armour and took the core that it was using from my ammo tab and placed it into a recharge station, probs shoulve taken the core from the armour instead of straight from ammo. Not sure 100% this caused it but just assuming.
Anyway thanks!
I had this as well. The fusion core suddenly drained 100% and did not switch to a new one. When i dropped the cores and picked them up again, i could enter my power armor and all is fixed.
Thank you!! I had this problem today and I tried dumping all of my fusion cores on the ground and picking them up again. Worked like a charm!
