It looks like the Gila monster (Heloderma sp) to me.
Specifically the reddish colored Heloderma suspectum.

Although, the tail is a little bit too pointy and the head too uniformly red, plus the fact that the Gila monster is endemic to desert regions in Arizona and Mexico.
However, none of the lizard species found in West Virginia look anything close.

Not many creatures in West Virginia Look like they belong-Maybe being Nuked everyday 24/7 has something to do with that.
