It would be amusing in the middle of live stream for six adult males in deathclaw outfits to bust in swat-style and trash the computer room (nothing valuable, just mess it up, then leave)
There is quite literally no reason why we must waste some times up to 30 minutes joining game and leaving game just to change servers to finally find a server where our camp could be placed. Let us have the option to bypass this and have a search done on joining for a server with our camp location open. Those that dont care can leave it off and relocate their camp or load their backup camp. My backup camp is for resource gathering in my instance my primary camp is used to selling my loot to other players, my primary camp is the one I prefer to use since its hard to operate as a vendor since many players dont like to camp hop
last year I saw someone build there by that truck and they merged their camp into the existing structure and built a nice camp there. Ive seem lots of good camps built into existing in game structures over the years. For me I been in game since the open beta and I only have had my camp in five places, first camp was in the field across from charleston station which everyone whined about cause it supposedly prevented a random encounter from spawning even though I saw random encounters spawn in the area while my camp was there. Then I moved it to the cliffs over looking the white spring hotel golf course, scorch beasts made it impossible to have that camp as viable as I was constantly going through supplies repairing the camp. Then I moved my camp up north of the light house for resource gathering. Then I moved my camp to the field just north east of the wayward which is my primary vending spot. My fifth camp location is my secondary camp which is placed way up north over looking the crashed space station raider camp at a lead deposit site since I craft my own ammo, which I have no need for anymore after leveling up my Legendary stats to where I get so much ammo for minimal crafting supplies.
Hehe i bet you will be kill him / her instantly ;)
The only way this could be happening is if you are picking one of the more popular spots that are promoted on YouTube and TikTok. Of course that spot is going to be already in use when you login if you're building on prime real estate that everyone else builds on.
It's a gigantic map, there's thousands of places to pick if you're not fighting everyone for the Top 10 Fallout 76 Camp Locations™.
I dont recall ever seeing my location as a prime spot on youtube videos. My spot has no resources besides a water source. I picked the location because for me it is a great spot to sell items to low level players and help them out. Sure I could relocate but then I kill my ability to sell items which is already bad as it is since no one camp hop to check out what they are selling. I can sit in my camp for two hours working on my camp and no one comes by, the only time things are active for me is at the drop of a new season or a seasonal event that is big like halloween or holiday events.
With that said though regardless if its a popular spot or not, why not give us the option to select finding us a server that our camp isnt blocked and cut out all the back and forth. Or better yet give us the option to hop servers without quitting to the main menu and then hit join server which some times throws you right back into the same server. I would compromise for a in server "change server" ability even as it would cut down on extra steps.
sometimes people dont visit camps that have the owner staying there for a long time because some people think thats a sign of a trap camp and some people have social anxiety and dont want to have the pressure of buying something.
also, make sure you arent selling items for what they are marked for. set your own cheaper price. unless its a really good item. but i doubt you will have anything that good at level 37. (example, stimpaks are marked as 16 caps. instead sell them no more than like 3 caps per stimpak. and sell a lot at a time. it adds up.)
a good spot for a base with plenty of resources and rarely used is right next to Sunshine Meadows Industrial Farm. you can claim the workshop and set up resource collectors. its also next to Vault-Tec Agricultural Research Center. and a lot of new players go by there.
and one more thing, if people arent visiting then make sure your PUBLIC MAP ICON is set to ON. other people cant see it when its off. i hope this helps.
If it looked like a good spot to you, someone already posted it somewhere on social media. As long as your camp is visible on the map, people looking to trade will travel to you anywhere on the map. If you're the charitable type who just likes helping new players, the new donation boxes are scattered at most major points. I leave a ton of stuff there every day for the beginners.
the best places in my experience are:
a) no resource extractors nearby
b) in general restricted area, but have tiny part where you can put base in
also f1st tents prevent putting camps, so putting camp where folks put tents is not great idea either (leveing areas, boss areas, event areas).
