Are you sure this is a multiplayer game?
I have so rarely seen a game so antagonistic towards me playing with anyone else in my life... BUUUT I just assume it is my ineptitude.

How do you get to the fun part of playing with other people?

It's here just to overpower hard+ public events. And save a lot of ammo in other multiplayer content.
And... to trade???
Oh wait, coop. As if the game is not easy enough.

Yes, it is a multiplayer game. Just one that plays more like a single player game that just happens to have some other people in it. There are only a maximum of 24 players on a server. The only real multiplayer stuff are the events that pop up. On the map, the ones that appear in the lower left corner (and also have an exclamation point on their icon) are meant to b done with others. Other events not listed there, and with no exclamation point on their icon, are more solo events but can still be done with others.

Questing is either done solo, or by helping your team leader (and then switching leaders so he can help you).

Its a single player game to me. I play on a private server, alone.

I tried playing on public servers in groups for the exp bonus, but i always ended up massively overleveled with :poop: gear and unable to kill stuff… The exp bonus is actually a very bad thing in my opinion.

Honestly, the game became a LOT more fun once I started using the Chat mod that was recommended to me. The game DOES have VC but it's like no-one ever uses it at all. Text Chat (Now with Clans), yes that is the name it's under on the Nexus, just adds a chat box to the game. it has General, Server, Team, Clan and Trade (I think that's all of them). So it has cross-world/server chat, no massive file adjusting or anything. You can even just use commands in the mod in-game to shift the window wherever you want on the screen using a X/Y coordinate, which they made easy too.

I've looked into it and I can say with a fair bit of confidence that it will NOT do things like get you banned or somehow open you up to hacking/information stealing. Heck, one of the people I chat to now has been using the mod since it's first public release. So, I'll leave the link here. If you want more info/have any concerns about using it, feel free to hit me up here or add me on the Friends list to chat about it. Anyway, I hope to see you server-side chatting away soon enough. :)

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout76/mods/151/ And just so you know, I did use the Mod Manager to download it, and all worked just fine. :) TTYL!

Been playing with friends and having a blast. The only time I met rude players is a few weeks back when some guy wouldn't stop punching me while breathing heavily into their mic.

More a Co-Op game than full on MMO. I love people visiting my rp themed settlement to purchase items.

It's um just an online multi-player...not massively multiplayer, You're still be in a world with other players, but you can explore, quest, and survive all on your lonesome without teaming up if that's your jam.

You can only have like 24 people on an public instance and 8 on a private instance. So you can pretty much play individually or with a party of up to 3 others.

The game was built for consoles and then ported to PC. That's why its lacking your typical PC communications and grouping functions. Also why the menus are so ridiculous for PC players.

Umm no, Its not a console port. All BGS games (with the exception of mobile games) are developed on PC, then ported to Xbox and PS.

if you expected to play and level up with randoms up to lvl 50, you will need to bring a friend for that, because everyone plays the game their way and only group for the xp bonuses

I kinda wish this game had Raids in the style of a game like Destiny.
But the engine and combat system seam to be to janky for something like that.
Another cool mechanic would be dungeons that you need a full team of people who have different skills to clear.

It used to have Vault raids the first one was set inside Vault 94, it came out in 2019 it included enemy encounters and loot found by the team inside the Vault. Each mission was available for the duration of one week, rotating to another mission every Tuesday. While only one mission was available at a time, each raid repeats every three weeks.

As of the Wastelanders update though, Vault raids were shut down indefinitely, and most the rewards were instead made available by way of utilizing gold bullion, with the exception of certain rewards such as player icons and emotes becoming legacy content.

Did they play like actual Raids as in they required a team of skilled payers and teamwork and are quite difficult.
Or ware they raids in name only.
