those little metal things you've been picking up aren't vertibird droppings. Try loading one into a gun.

There are several ways to get more ammo:

- Increase your Luck and equip the Luck perk card that adds more ammo whenever you do find some.
- There's an old combat confrontation just to the right of Vault 76 when you come out, rather than going straight down the stairs. There are some ammo boxes near there.
- Put on the Ammosmith perk card (Agility) and the Super Duper (Luck) card if you have it, and craft ammo at your tinker bench. There's also an ammo Legendary perk card that you can get that will also help.
- Join Daily Ops with a team of higher levels. All the enemies drop ammo for your currently equipped weapon.
- Kill scorched, ghouls, and super mutants - they should drop ammo for your currently equipped weapon.
- Hop on voice chat and ask a higher leveled player to sell you ammo for your weapon, 1 cap per bullet.
- You can get Lead from the weights you can scrap in the hotel right when you're coming into Flatwoods, or the weights in the firebreathers' fire station.
- You can tag Lead in your pip-boy, so that any junk that scraps to Lead will get a special icon.

Well that's where you are wrong.

See above informative post.
Note that (all) containers have a cooldown, when you looted something, don't bother to return to that container unless 24(?) hours real time have passed.

Those ammo box's are everywhere, just look for them.

You should be refining your build to a particular weapon set, if it is automatic fire, switch to semi auto or melee till you build up a comfortable stash.

If thres any game ive ever played that literally overloads you with ammo then this it. I have thousands of bullets of all shapes and sizes. I dont even pick them up anymore. How are you short of ammo ???

There's also a nuance to this -- your private loot list gets reset (roughly) daily, but ALSO has a maximum lockout count of about 250 items. That means, once you've looted 250+ other things, the oldest thing you looted will become lootable to you again. So grab junk and open boxes, and then check back to the beginning of your loot circuit - you might be able to loot them again.

Every time (almost) you kill something, it drops ammo. Usually its the same type of ammo used to kill it. I have so much .308 and 5.56 its ridiculous. Is ammo not dropping when you kill things?

Farm Pleasant Valley, Skorched drop 5.56, .45 and shotgun ammo. As well as weapons to scrap there is plans at benches, lots of chems and other stuff.

How are you level 30 and crying for ammo? You should be swimming in it. Are you just using too much because your weapons are lvl 5?

Seriously, you have to actively try to not have ammo unless you're just bad at the game.

Every enemy you kill drops ammo for whatever weapon you used to kill it. Also, you can make ammo for every weapon pretty easily. Ad finally, in the early stages of the game, go to a train station and sell unwanted/unused chems and then use the caps to buy ammo. This last one is a little inefficient but works in a pinch. Also, after every ten levels, you should just build yourself new gear.
