Question about Tesla rifle and stealth
Decided to try out the Tesla Rifle and it's perdy fun so far! But I'm wondering, can it stealth attack multiple enemies at once? I haven't noticed if this happens or not.

When are there multiple enemies at once who don't notice you or aren't part of an event?

In just about any building or cave or enemy camp or anywhere.

In my experience they're spread out. TBH the aoe of the Tesla is useless unless camping event spawns.

edit: and even then you're just using it to tag enemies but you'll still need someone to kill them for you lol

Seems like it hits pretty hard for me. I'm not using the automatic version, just the rifle version since I got a load of semi auto rifle related damage perks and I'm enjoying feeling like Palpatine in a gun.

1) The charge matters on the direct shot, but the arcs deal the same damage as they would if you fully charged it. Gauss weapons actually work similarly, where the explosion is always the full damage of what it can be, but the impact damage increases with charge.

2) The arc is actually virtually an "explosion," which is why Grenadier will increase the range ability of the arcs, which would allow you to get more tags. It will only arc if there's another target within the "explosion" radius.

3) Semi-automatic barrels for the Tesla are purely for tagging, the automatic barrel is the only one that does very decent DPS, especially with mobs that are close enough together. It's a lower damage per shot weapon though, so you're going to be using a lot of ammo if you want that DPS.

So to answer my own question, it doesn't seem like the Tesla Rifle can do stealth attacks, which makes me sadge. But also I don't know what's considered good damage, but I'm doing 250-400 damage a hit with semi auto attacks out of stealth and to me that seems perdy good. I'm currently melting groups of super mutants.

Edit: I also use the Gauss rifle and currently I do almost 1k damage with a stealth headshot, which is enough to one shot most things that I've come across. Soo I'm perdy happy right now

In the game files the Tesla is classified as a non-sneak weapon, LaserGun_AM: Sound = Loud the sneak attack multiplayer doesn't get applied to Tesla Rifle's damage.

When fired at surfaces, arc damage always deals -35% damage to the initial chain target and another -35% damage on top of that to the second chain target, regardless of barrel or charge. When fired at enemies, the Tesla correctly deals 100% damage to the targeted enemy. Automatic, charging and charging shotgun barrels are adding or subtracting weapon damage itself instead of modifying damage multiplicative or adding or subtracting to the additive damage bonus multiplier.

The Gauss Rifle can be fitted with a Suppressor which sets sound level to Quiet, therefore it will benefit from Stealth oriented perks and legendary perks.
