Good energy weapons?

Since using the Gauss rifle, it's gotten me interested in energy weapons, I've never bothered with them in Fallout games before so not really sure which ones I should aim for. I'm a rifleman so I was thinking plasma rifle, I'm currently using the enclave plasma rifle but there's no mods for it, soo was thinking of picking up the plasma gun plan from the vendor and going from there, unless you all can suggest a better rifle type weapon?

join red or green team and try laser rifle , it's actually good with comando + sience buffs.

Plasma Thrower use to be broken then nerfed to hell. I'd give it a try to see if the creamator patch improved its DoT effect. Then it should be amazing.

If a player is between level 50 and 100, I'd recommend carrying a Tesla Rifle to tag mobs for the XP. Quad is best, but even non-legendary will tag mobs.

Personal opinion:

A few very good Energy wepaons are:

The Plasma Caster,
The Holy fire,
The Cremator.
Yes i know they are heavy weapons but nonetheless they are Energy weapons.
All depends ofc of your build and what Legendary stats you weapons has.

cremator is not really worth it anymore since they patch the glitch and nerf it a bit. can be good for tagging i guess but dps wise not anymore.

what are you talking about it wasent a nerf more of a dot buff its still op just explosive crd doset work on it but bot does more damage

The Enclave plasma rifle has a bit better stats overall than the regular plasma rifle, but you can't scrap to learn plans and you basically can't buy plans - you can only buy the boxed mods. If you're at that point in the storyline, go to the vendors in the Enclave bunker or the two robot vendors in Watoga (random small chance to spawn the best mods for it, including the Aligned Flamer Barrel). You also have a chance to earn boxed mods for it from doing the various Enclave events that pop up (can't remember the actual names of them, but the orbital-strike one, the supply-drop one, and the one where you guard bots at a Bot Stop until they can get reprogrammed).

Gauss minigun is good, but hard to get ammo for it.

Gatling plasma is also good, but it breaks after one or two plasma cores.

Plasma caster is good with vats, but sucks fireing normally because of the slow projectiles.

Gatling laser, feels like its worse after the patch.

there is plenty of video online explaining and showing it but it was doing 2-3k damage with vats crits and now its around 600-800

base damage got nerfed way more than the increase in dots you get. at that point the holy fire is way better dps wise. the dot make it a good tagging weapon but not a good dps one
