Recycling Bug : Chainsaw

It's been 3 days i'm trying to make some good chainsaws.

==> on about 20 Chainsaws being recycled, i had 7 to 8 info that a Mod has been obtained.

Problem is that i got only 2 "real Mods". Others just disappeared.

I only play since october, so i'm not aware of all issues, anyone faced the same situations ?

==> So, tonight i just scripted 3 new Chainsaws i had in my stash, see what happens :

1. I get the curved blade Mod, so it says on screen

2. But, no new Mod (the highlighted one was just got from Fasnacht).
Instead, i have a "strange component"

3. After some going a few times to the Recycling Box then to my Stash (where i picked up the Heavy Gun long canon), i get these :

not sure how mods obtention works on the chainsaw, isn't it different from other weapons as it's not a craftable one ?
there's not a ton of mods anyway, and you can easily find mods at railway stations ( the best being double blades with flamer mod )

comment tu recycles les tronconneuses vu qu'on les drops seulement en légendaire ??

je vois sur le 1er screen qu'elle est pas légendaire, j'ai aucune idée comment on obtient une "normale"

You don't get mods (boxed) via scrapping, you learn the plan to craft mods on to an item.

Boxed mods found or purchased from the world are a one time use. Unlike FO4 once it's used, it's gone.

^ This. OP you can close that ticket as it is not a bug but a misunderstanding on how getting mods from scrapping works.

When you scrap anything, weapons or armour to learn mods you do not receive a "box mod" in the mods section of your pipboy. What you get is the "plan" for that mod automatically learnt. There will be no plan to read, it is just automatically known as soon as it shows up on screen that you have got that mod.

Also you do not automatically get the mod that was already on a weapon when you scrap it. It is totally random.

Go to a weapon bench and mod the chainsaw same as any other weapon. Mods that have been learnt will be able to be crafted.

Anyway :

- double blade is supposed to be obtained only via scripting, it is said not to be available at vendor's.
I can confirm i got one by scrapping a chainsaw.

- there were bugs with those [undefined] things

- @ logcrd : tu peux en trouver des "normales".
Par exemple : Dôme du Tonnerre dans un petit cabanon gris, et 2 spots proches dans Les Tourbières, le Bureau des Rangers (dans le bâtiment en tôle) et celui des Pillards qui est au sud ouest des Rangers (sur une étagère près du bus jaune à l'extérieur de la base).

i spent allmost 2 hours routing vendors, could not get that double blade, and scrapping gives me like 1 mod on 50 scraps, so, i'm not sure this is not happening as expected.

You can get it both ways. A lot of the plans the vendor bots sell are also learned from scrapping, but not all of them. That said, the only reason to buy the plans is because you're looking for a specific mod for a specific weapon. Basically, you can pay caps to skip the RNG of it all. You also get a lot of mod plans from treasure maps, so don't neglect those in the early game.
