No. A weapon will never break and stop being able to be repaired. Your weapon will exist forever. Even if it's condition bar is fully destroyed and it is unable to be used it will still exist. Once it is repaired it can be used again.

Same applies for armour and power armour pieces.

Well

the game DOES randomly unfavourite things... common bug when the servers are laggy... VERY very common bug when the servers are laggy and you have 2+ of the same base weapon as a favourite (ex. favourite tesla with QFFR and with BloodiedFFR it will randomly unfavourite the one that is with a higher number in the favourite wheel, moving the lower one into its place)

Which then lets you drop it

you could have also scrapped it
you could have also stashed it

If it was legendary, it could have also ended up in a legendary vending machine.

Best tip is to name the things you actively use. Sadly, there is no locking feature to prevent accidents. Using a symbol like a hyphen as the first character in the name will sort things to the top of your list, while starting a name with a ZZ will sort it to the bottom.

I took a long time to run out of field repair kits (I saved them up for a long time).. Usually I run out of ballisitic for armour before screws for guns. But the amount of times I accidentally scrapped my chassis or "The Dragon" is too high. Sometimes the lag on scrapping/exchanging is stupid and you accidentally get rid of something even if you did not realize it yet.

I just found an enclave flamer in my pocket. How fishy.

You can also put an atom shop/scoreboard paint on an item and it won’t be able to be scrapped.

Supposedly, when your weapons break the game replaces them with a broken version of the same weapon. When you repair it it is replaced again with a functional weapon.

This replacement instead of just adding health via durability is what can cause issues. If the game doesn't 'award' the weapon due to lag etc. it disappears.

The best solution is to never let it break.

Along with doing this putting skins on items will prevent you from being able to sell and script legendary items

Yeah, My Legendary Gauntlet, that was Vampiric, +45% Speed and +1 STR, that I'd had for YEARS was suddenly gone one day when I logged in. It was renamed AND had a an appearance change on it, so it would not even show up in the Legendary scrapper. I put in a TT to Bethesda and they just basically said, "Tough toenails."
I've sent hundreds of Legendary Modules trying to remake it; I really hate the RNG way this is done.

Have you tried unstoppable monster? It is a deathclaw Gauntlet with an extra claw and better power attacks with incoming damage reduced during your power attack. You have to find the plan from the elder rewards on daily ops. It is for exchange only and not for player trade. I don;t think you can reroll legend effects on it as it is set to come with Bloodied, Power Attack bonus and Cavalier during Power attack.

Do you know of a way to protect the power armour chassis? I keep scrapping mine down and develop this little weight problem with pieces of armour until I find a new chassis.

Inspect the chassis and then rename it to something you will not auto scrap

Sure there is a limit on the number of repairs, the limit is based on how many times you want to locate the scrap to do so. Sorry, I was being a little sarcastic on that, but no your weapon does not disappear because it breaks, it does become unusable until you fix it.

Man can you imagine a god roll weapon disappearing because it broke, there would be outrage about it.
